Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti volunteer killed!

A volunteer from Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti foundation has reportedly been killed.

The hip-hop star, who has raised over $1 million for his charity through text donations, has announced the death of his volunteer after a desperate Haitian shot Jean's colleague in a carjacking, according to

The 37-year-old said: "Jo Jo was shot and killed on the second day we were there. He was the victim of a carjacking. I left him alone for two hours and he was driving in the city.

"A guy stopped him and told him to get out of the car. No one knows quite what happened next but he was shot twice and killed instantly. The jacker didn't even want the car, he just wanted to take the fuel."

Jean added: "It looked like the apocalypse - there were bodies everywhere. It's a sight that will stay with me forever. It's something you just can't put into words. I filmed everything with a video camera because I was convinced people would not believe what we told them."

To the governments of Jamaica and Trinidad. It is going to be a sad day if this transaction does take place. You both will see how Jamaicans really feel about giving the airline away to the highest bidder. I find it totally amazing that desperate African countries with half the GNP as little Jamaica can operate their national airlines with pride and a resolve to ensure that their airlines flourish. Once again we give in to the dictates of The World Bank who's only reason for being is to protect companies and trade of Uncle Sam. With Air Jamaica gone, watch the rush from US based airlines to fill the void. I can see them rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect. With Air Jamaica gone, how will those poor government employees be expected to fly around the world first class on other airlines? Poor people.
