DJ Jazzy Jeff on Will Smith Smacking Chris Rock: ‘He Would’ve Done the SAME to Mike Tyson!’ | WATCH

Most Americans Have Sided with Chris Rock, According to Twitter Data

Over three months have passed since Will Smith walked calmly to the stage at the 94th Academy Awards and landed a slap on Chris Rock‘s cheek. Celebrities such as Vivica A. Fox, Shannon Sharpe, T.I., Stephen A. Smith, and Jim Carrey have long given their views on the matter.

Some commentators have always maintained that Will S only slapped Chris because he judged he could get away with it. In other words, Will Smith wouldn’t have hit him on live TV if he was bigger or his match. At this point, you would think, anyone who is anybody had reacted on the matter. But that is not the case. DJ Jazzy Jeff, a record producer friend/partner of Smith for decades, recently joined the debate, claiming that Smith would still have smacked even Mike Tyson if the latter had made an inappropriate joke about Smith’s wife.

Remember, Mike Tyson is still referred to as the “Baddest Man on the Planet.”

During an interview on the FAQ Podcast, DJ Jazzy Jeff said, “I’ve had people say, ‘Oh [Will Smith] wouldn’t have done that to no gangsta. Let me tell you something about Will. Will is somebody that cliff dove in Jamaica and couldn’t swim. Will was the person that whatever he’s afraid of, he runs to. I ain’t got that in me. I don’t have that in me at all. I’ve watched Will almost die numerous times running straight.”

The legendary DJ insisted again and again that Will would have slapped Mike Tyson because it didn’t matter who was there on stage making bad jokes about his wife.

“Will would’ve got his ass beat, but he was going to do what he was going to do regardless of who it was,” he continued. “It wasn’t for fake. It wasn’t for show. I have to protect. If that was a grizzly bear, he would have did it. I know him.”

Interestingly, about one month after the slapping incident, at the Academy Awards, Mike Tyson himself beat up one of his fans on camera for repeatedly antagonizing him during a flight. So people are asking if Mike Tyson, who’s known to beat his own fans, would turn the other cheek for Will Smith?

Chris Rock tears up and says he has not talked to Will Smith as he breaks his silence at Boston comedy show as it's revealed the actor refused to leave Oscars

If this were a presidential contest, Chris Rock would be winning in most states, according to an article published on The Hill. As of now, he has 41 states under his belt against Will Smith’s 9 states. And yes, this is about the Oscar ceremony incident where Will Smith ended up slapping the comedian.

The sports gambling company BetOnline.ag on Tuesday released a map based on geotagged Twitter data that shows most Americans support Rock over the “Men in Black” star. Most Twitter users in the 41 states think Will Smith was wrong to slap Rock, while only 9 states have many siding with Will Smith on the public drama that took many by surprise, including Rock himself. These were Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and New Hampshire.

Most Will Smith supporters were highly concentrated in Mississippi, at 75.4%, while Rock’s supporters were mainly in Maine, at 98.2%.

On Sunday (03-27-22) at the 94th annual Academy Award, Rock made what he perhaps considered a good-natured joke about Smith’s wife. However, Smith didn’t take it kindly. The “King Richard” actor took to the stage as if going to shake Rock’s hand for a good joke, only to strike him on the face with his open hand.

The data is based on 200,000 tweets tracked by the online betting firm. Hashtags such as #TeamWill or #TeamChris accompanied the tweets.

Smith offered an apology for his behavior to Rock, terming it “unacceptable and inexcusable.”

Will Smith Apologizes To Chris Rock

'I'm still processing what happened': Chris Rock speaks out for the first time

Chris Rock on Wednesday night told an audience at his sold-out comedy show in Boston that he was 'still processing' being slapped on stage by Will Smith at the Oscars, in his first public response to Sunday's shocking incident.

Dressed all in white, Rock, 57, took to the stage at the Wilbur Theatre and asked the excited crowd: 'Sooooo, how was your weekend?!'

With the crowd all handing over their cell phones before the show began, the former Saturday Night Live star was greeted with a long standing ovation in the first of two sets he performed Wednesday as part for his Ego Death Tour.

However, the usually-uninhibited funnyman quickly shut down any hopes he would crack jokes about the slap heard round the world to the 3,000 fans in the audience, some of whom reportedly paid nearly $1,000 for a ticket.

'Let me be all misty and s***,' he said, with tears in his eyes.

'I don't have a bunch of s*** to say about that, so if you came here for that...' he said, and paused.

'I had written a whole show before this weekend.

'I'm still processing what happened, so at some point I'll talk about that s***. It'll be serious. It'll be funny, but right now I'm going to tell some jokes.'

Rock skirted the subject again in his second set but seemingly confirmed that he has not spoken with Smith since being smacked in the jaw on live television.

'I haven't talked to anyone, despite what you heard,' Rock said.

Twice during the first show, a couple of members of the audience shouted: 'Will Smith,' drawing a far louder chorus of boos.

Following the heckling, DailyMail.com saw one man being dragged out by security guards.

Police confirmed that the man was maced and kicked out of the theater by multiple security guards.

The kerfuffle disrupted Rock, who responded the second time by saying: 'Is this how this tour is going to go?'

Later Rock commented on his life in general, saying that 'except for some weird things, life is pretty good right now.'

The crowd laughed, knowing exactly what the 'weird things' referred to.

Rock seemed unfazed as he delivered his typically high-energy routine, keeping the crowd roaring and gasping as he joked about everything from overweight people at Disney parks, to his decision to get a vasectomy after seeing a 78-year-old Robert De Niro walking around with a child.

He joked about how he spends all his money on women, and wryly recommended his ex-wife's divorce lawyer to the audience, for winning her half his fortune without her ever telling a joke.

Rock took the stage shortly after it emerged that Smith had refused to leave the Oscars after he was approached by the heads of the Academy of Motion Pictures.

The Academy said on Wednesday he ignored the request from the president, David Rubin, and CEO, Dawn Hudson, to leave, and that he had violated their code of conduct.

The 53-year-old actor marched onto the stage on Sunday and hit Rock, after Rock told a joke about Smith's wife.

Shortly after, Smith was announced as the winner of the best actor award and went up to collect his statuette to a standing ovation from many of his peers.

Chris Rock Declines to File Police Report After Will Smith Slapped him and told him 'Keep My Wife's Name Out Your F****** Mouth'

While he admitted that he “reacted emotionally” in his apology Monday evening, he also spoke about his reason for being angry, which is being viewed by some persons as an attempt to justify what he did.

His post also ended with words that are considered to be on-point in making others relate to his situation.

Will Smith wrote:

Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.

I am a work in progress.

Sincerely,

Will

After almost 24 hours of backlash from the internet following the nerve-wracking slap he landed on Chris Rock’s face, Will Smith wrote an apology on Instagram that is directed to Chris Rock and others who have been affected by his actions.

Will Smith won his first Academy Award on Sunday night and offered his apologies to the Academy and others for an earlier incident in which the actor appeared to strike presenter Chris Rock

He tearfully accepted the award for his role as Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, in the film “King Richard.” Smith said Williams “was a fierce defender of his family.”

Smith said, “I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse and have people talk people about you. In this business, you gotta have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and pretend that’s ok.”

Smith also talked about being a “protector” and thanked the tennis legends and their family.

Smith shared that prior to his win, fellow nominee Denzel Washington shared some wisdom with him: “At your highest moment be careful, that’s when the devil comes for you.

Smith ended by saying that he hopes the Academy welcomes him back

Once again I understand Will's frustrations, but I think he was out of line and could have handled that differently.  As @Mr1stroke stated had it been a white comedian would he have laid hands on him?  More than likely "NO".  If it was a true gangsta like Snoop Dogg or one of these lil young knuckleheads that don't give a f**k, would he have done that?  Probably not.  Maybe if Will and Jada weren't putting all their sexual escapades and other nonsense out in the open, there may have been a bit more respect.  Point in case, You don't see a man like Denzil Washington, airing all his dirty laundry in the public.  Look at Sidney Poitier, his private life was private.  Do you think Jada should have been talking about some dude she was screwing on public airways, and Will was broken over that.  But again these folks are into wife swapping and all kinds of immoral activities where they put themselves in bad light.

In 2016 Chris Rock in his opening monologue as then host of the Oscars spoke of celebrities boycotting the show for lack of diversity he said........"Jada boycotting the show, that's like me boycotting Rihanna's panties........I wasn't invited.
Will probably has a long memory.

But lets get one thing straight, if it was a white comedian that crack that joke Will would not lay hand on him, I put my life on the line, negros are so afraid of white people they never take their anger out of white people, they adopt the silly lynch format, they hate each other they will crucify each other, they never have forgiveness for each other but will be quick to forgive a white person, and will Smith proved it at the Oscar, which help white people control who they bring in shows like this and they don't want those negros there anyway, give it another 2 years negros will be crying again for not being seen at the Oscars, and that's why negros cannot have their own thing, no one believe in them and will not want to be involve because they know how that will turn out. Like I always said , Negros cannot have and cannot keep anything beautiful.

The GIJane joke by Chris Rock is really no big deal. Actually the character GI Jane is portrayed as a strong woman who excels within an all male setting.. Demi Moore was fantastic as a navy seal in her adaptation of a GI.
There was a prior incident years ago when Jada opined about boycotting the Oscars for lack of diversity, Chris Rock joked that her boycott was akin to him with Rihanna's panties......nice thought but not happeing...
Maybe Will Smith was also reacting to that joke.

I understand Will's moment of anger and yes Chris may have been out of line and indeed insensitive.  However, that was not the time and place for Will to act, he could have addressed that else where.  I just wonder if it was someone else would Will have stepped to him like that? Or is it he knew Chris wouldn't push back?  Bottom line is, he just gave Chris the rights with millions of viewers witnessing this debacle.  He may have sidelined his career for a minute too.  Me personally, a person can say what they want, it's when they put their hands on me or my family is when the war starts.

I respect the fact that Will stood up for his wife, that's one of the thing a husband is for and that is to protect, We are all know Jada has been going through some health issue, so that was definitely the wrong joke, do not go out of limit on a man's mother, kids and definitely his wife, so yes I stand with will on this one, many of you females will never have that because you don't know what a husband, this is a whole new level of respect, no one cares about any boy friends, if your boy friend act up we will drop him, he is nobody if he does not put a ring on your finger.

So with that said that was also the wrong place to do that, Will could of done it at the after party or catch him outside, its bad enough black people are complaining about diversity at the Oscars, now you are scaring white people, why is it always that skin color getting out hand, don't be surprise if they only invite 5 of you at the Oscars and do not nominate none of you.

Jada is a celebrity and Chris Rock is a comedian, she is not off limit to the jokes, it was just the wrong joke that's all, I wish you guys can move on pass this, but I am the wrong man to give advice on this one. Violate me as a man I will not sleep until I finish you, a smack of a lesson at an event like that for the world to see is a lot to take on, so gold luck to the both of you how ever that ends up.
