I had to wait too long for someone to do my hair.  I started doing it myself.  Who wants to wait all day?

The only reason people started going to the Dominican salon was to get out of there faster.

Salons of any ethnicity can be trying. Thats why when you find a good stylist they're like gold.

I have been a stylist for 36 yrs. I started doing hair because of the ability to be a black business owner and to work on and for my people... I LOVE what I do and am thoroughly appalled at the condition of the industry today. There are only a handful of manufacturers left that are Black Owned. The beauty supply side had been taken over by Koreans. Beauty suppliers were the number 1 place for education. Now there's nowhere for young stylist to learn other than from someone who is doing the best they can without the education to properly promote professional salon practices... This is my life, I will always be a stylist... Very talented stylist are out there and if you do your due diligence we can be found. I could go on about the incredible work and love we have for your hair but this is not the forum for that conversation. As clients it's up to you too demand better...

I agree with Cee Gee and judy maya, I only let Dominicans work on my hair and I usually go for a press once a year.  My sister only lets Dominicans work on her hair too. 

About nine years ago I went to a Haitian Hair salon and the woman pulled all my hair out!   She had so much of my hair in her hand that she had enough hair to make an afro wig!  I said never again!  Several weeks later she asked my friend when was I coming back.  My friend told her that I was never coming back!

Lol!! I can relate to all of the examples told. I don't relax any more and only go for a press once a year, if at all. Ain't nobody got time for that BS all day sit fest!!

No offense to my sisters, but I only let the Dominicans do my hair.
