BREAKING: Another POPULAR ENTERTAINER On Police Radar As More MURDER Charges On Tap In Kartel Case

Vybz Kartel Arrested & Being Questioned About Partially Burnt Body Found In House He Owns!!

Police investigators yesterday revealed that they expect to make more arrests in one of the two murder cases brought against popular Jamaican entertainer Vybz Kartel as the probe against him widens.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell, who heads the Criminal Investigations Branch, said the new arrests could come "between now and Thursday" in the Clive Williams murder case.

"There are strong possibilities that other persons will be charged between now and Thursday. Then all the persons will go to court on Thursday," Powell told The Gleaner. One of the other persons on the police radar is another popular entertainer.

The case was mentioned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday where 'Kartel', whose given name is Adidja Palmer, and a member of his entourage, fashion designer Calvin Haye, were ordered remanded until Thursday.

Haye was ordered to give his fingerprints to the police.

Graphic descriptions

Police investigators say Williams, who is also known as 'Lizard', was killed in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, but his body has not been found.

"We have graphic descriptions of how Mr Williams was killed," one CIB personnel told The Gleaner last week.

Another member of Palmer's entourage, Kiro James, more popularly known as 'Ray Jones', has also been charged in connection with the murder.

Palmer, who has been in custody since October 1, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal possession of firearm arising from the death of Barrington Burton, a St Catherine businessman/promoter.

Burton was shot and killed while standing with friends in Gregory Park, St Catherine, in July

It seems that the world around controversial Dancehall artiste, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer continues to crumble as his booking agent also faces a murder charge.

Calvin “Moonie” Haye, designer and booking agent for Vybz Kartel, was jointly charged with murder in relation to the killing of Clive “Lizard” Williams in Havendale, St. Andrew this past August.  Haye was formally charged with murder following questioning by law enforcement in the presence of his attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson.

Haye was summoned by police earlier this week for questioning relating to Kartel’s case; granting an interview for TVJ’s Entertainment Report the night before he turned himself in to the Constant Spring Police. In the interview, Haye claimed that police barged into his home weeks earlier; startling him and his family before using excess force against him. According to Haye, he’s innocent of any wrong doing and will fight the charges brought against him, in part because of his affiliation to Kartel.

UNCONFIRMED: Reports Are Swirling that Vybz Kartel could be charged for a third murder on Monday [October 31]. Rumor also has it that Portmore Empire artiste ShaStorm, will be charged jointly with his mentor Kartel for murder.

Meanwhile it is expected that Kartel should know next Wednesday if he will be granted bail in one of the two murder cases brought against him.

That is when a judge in the Gun Court Division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court will rule on a bail application made yesterday by attorneys for the popular entertainer, whose given name is Adidja Palmer.

One of Palmer's attorneys, Christian Tavares-Finson, said the bail application was made after prosecutors handed over a statement given to the public defender's office by a key witness in the original case.

In custody since oct 1

At the same time, Palmer was scheduled to return to the Gun Court on Monday in connection with the second murder charge brought against him arising from the death of Clive Williams, also known as 'Lizard'.

Palmer has been in custody since October 1 when he and three other persons were arrested at a New Kingston hotel for possession of ganja.

Three days later, he was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of firearm arising from the death of businessman/promoter Barrington Burton, also known as 'Bossie'.

Burton was shot and killed while standing with friends along Walker Avenue, in Gregory Park, St Catherine, in July.

Williams was allegedly killed on August 16 in Havendale, St Andrew, but his body has not been found.

______________________________________________________________________DETECTIVES from the Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two persons for the murder of Clive Williams o/c ‘Lizard’ who was murdered on August 16, 2011 in Havendale, St Andrew.
The persons charged are Adijah Palmer o/c ‘Vybz Kartel’ and Kiro Jones o/c ‘Ray Jones’. Palmer and Jones were charged this evening.

Arrangements are being made to have Palmer and Jones brought before the courts shortly.
Kartel is already in jail on murder, conspiracy to murder, and illegal possession of a firearm charges.

He is scheduled to return to court on October 26 on those charges, which are in connection with the July 12 murder of Barrington 'Bossie' Burton, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was reportedly killed while standing with friends along Walker's Avenue in Gregory Park.
Kartel, who was arrested on September 30 at a hotel in New Kingston by police from the Flying Squad, is also charged for 4.3 ounces of ganja found at the premises. However, he pleaded not guilty to possession of ganja and is expected to return to court on November 10 on those charges.

Following the recent announcement that Shocking Vibes' Patrick Roberts was now doing booking for Portmore Empire artiste Popcaan, Adidjahiem Records CEO Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer has issued a statement through his lawyer Michael Deans declaring that Adidjahiem Records is still the booking and management agents for Portmore Empire artistes.

"Portmore Empire artistes Vanessa Bling (Gaza Slim), Sheba, Tommy Lee, and Shawn Storm are still booked and managed by Adidjahiem Records," the release read.

The release also went on to state that, "As such, any bookings or commitments coming through any other channels will not be honoured."

Palmer also states that booking and management related requests should be made to Calvin Haye at 876-261-4813, 876-289-8889 or adidjahiemrec@gmail.com.

Calvin Haye, who is also the road manager for the artistes in the Portmore Empire, also cleared up rumours of Popcaan leaving The Portmore Empire, as he says everything is good in the camp.

However, he (Calvin) was incarcerated for a week in the same period as Vybz Kartel, and says that there was nobody to do the bookings and so Popcaan had received assistance from Patrick Roberts. He also outlined that there was no grief between the camp and Popcaan, and the Portmore Empire has no problem with Patrick Roberts doing bookings for Popcaan.

Nigel Thompson and Linberg McDonald have been charged jointly with entertainer, Vybz Kartel, for the July murder of Barrington Burton in Gregory Park, St Catherine.

all three will now appear in court on Friday, October 14, at which time a bail application will be made for Kartel.

Kartel appeared before the Gun Court section of the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Wednesday, October 12, where the case was mentioned.

His attorney, Christian Tavares Finson, said they had been informed that charges were pending against other persons.

"Based on what the police were saying initially, we expected that. The matter has now been set for Friday of this week (when) everybody will appear before the court and it is our intension to make a bail application for Mr. Palmer. This is in furtherance of the documents being served on the defence," he said.

Vybz Kartel was charged on October 3 following investigations into the July shooting death of Barrington Burton, 27, otherwise called "Bossie".

Burton was shot dead while standing on Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park.

Kartel has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

MORE trouble appears to be on the horizon for jailed dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel. According to a highly-placed police source, the DeeJay who is already facing charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm, could be at the centre of police investigations into two additional murders.

"We definitely are looking into his role in the double murder of two men in Portmore (St Catherine)," the source told the Observer. The source however, declined to elaborate on the case.

The news came as the artiste, whose real name is Adija Palmer, appeared in the Gun Court division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to answer to charges against him.

Palmer has been charged in connection with the July murder of Barrington 'Bossie' Burton, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while standing with friends along Walker's Avenue in Gregory Park.

Attorney Tom Tavares-Finson told reporters yesterday that during the hearing, which was closed to the public, the court was informed that two men are to be charged jointly with Palmer for Burton's murder.

Palmer was remanded into police custody until Friday when the case against him will be mentioned for a bail application to be heard.

Additionally the court was told that statements have been served on the defence by the prosecution.

The artiste was arrested two Fridays ago, along with three other persons, at a hotel in New Kingston by cops from the Flying Squad.

Yesterday morning a throng of fans bearing posters with the artiste's likeness converged on the Half-Way-Tree Police Station shouting pro-Kartel slogans and chanting, "Free the world boss," using a title the DeeJay has bestowed upon himself.

The peaceful crowd, comprising mainly young women, were of the view that Palmer had been set-up. The group stayed late into the afternoon hoping to catch a glimpse of the artiste while he was being transported from the court's lockup.

Dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has been remanded on ganja charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court until November 10.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, appeared in court this morning.

The controversial deejay, along with Alecia Jackson, Andre St. John and Shane Williams, were arrested and charged two Fridays ago at a hotel in New Kingston.

In the meantime, October 13 has been set as the next court date for Kartel to answer to murder related charges.

The artiste was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

He is being represented by attorneys, Tom Tavares-Finson, Christian Tavares-Finson and Michael Deans.

It is alleged that on July 11, Kartel along with other men conspired to murder Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton, a 27-year-old businessman and promoter of a Gregory Park address in St. Catherine.

Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park.

Public defender gives muted response
ALLEGED witnesses in the high-profile murder case against ace deejay Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer have given conflicting statements to the Office of the Public Defender.

However, police sources told The Sunday Gleaner that investigators have reason to believe persons who have given counter-statements did so in fear of their lives.

The police claim that information gathered in and around the Gregory Park area of St Catherine, as well as the 'Gaza' section of Waterford, unearthed acts of intimidation and threats being made against witnesses, including plain-clothes police personnel.

Public Defender Earl Witter when contacted yesterday afternoon gave a terse response in addressing the police's claims.

"I make no comment whatsoever on what you tell me or what your police sources have told you," he said to our news team, refusing additional comment on the matter.

Allegations against the deejay are that he and other men had conspired to murder businessman Barrington 'Bossie' Burton, a 27-year-old promoter of a Gregory Park, St Catherine, address.

Burton was shot while standing in the company of other persons along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park on July 11.

Vybz Kartel was arrested on September 30 and faces charges of conspiracy to murder, illegal possession of firearm and murder. The deejay was also slapped with a ganja possession charge after a quantity of the drug was found when he was picked up by police at a New Kingston hotel while in the company of three other persons, including a female.

Artiste pleads not guilty

He has since pleaded not guilty to the ganja possession charge and is set to face the court on the more serious offences.

In recent weeks, in addition to Vybz Kartel, Kyro Jones, André 'Mad Puss' St John and another man, known as 'Badda Dan' - all allegedly affiliated to the area known as Gaza - have been arrested in connection with other charges, including shootings and murders. Laingberg 'Laing' McDonald was also arrested on a separate charge.

Among the police's claims of witness intimidation is that on the morning of the identification parade in the murder case, gunmen staged an attack in the area where the murder took place.

In response, the St Catherine South police rounded up "all known members of the Gaza gang", adding that "people have been scurrying for their lives, not into hiding but to public legal offices, as a way of getting out of the case".

Police sources have described the actions as "a challenge to law and order and police control", which have led to a continuous operation against the Gaza gang in Portmore and other places islandwide.

The St Catherine South police have since established a strong presence in communities bordering 'Gaza' in Waterford and the Gregory Park area.

VYBZ Kartel pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana when his case was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.
His female companion Alicia Jackson, pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $500 or thirty days for the offence

Kartel's attorney, Michael Deans, requested that the court drop the drug possession charge against his client. The request was flatly rejected by Senior Magistrate who ordered that the prosecution and defence should discuss the matter and come to a decision when the case is next mentioned on October 11, when a bail application is expected to made on his behalf.
Dressed in a grey suit with matching tie, the smile which was adorned the face of the deejay was missing as he was being pleaded and he maintained a stoic demeanor.
Vybz Kartel is tentatively set to be brought back to court October 13 for the first hearing into the charges of murder, conspiracy and illegal firearm possession which were laid against him earlier this week.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS company LIME has withdrawn its sponsorship of the television programmme Teacha's Pet which features embattled dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel.

The company withdrew its support less than a day after investigators from the Major Investigation Task Force slapped charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm on the deejay.

"Due to the serious nature of the charges against Vybz Kartel, LIME has taken the decision to discontinue its broadcast of Teacha's Pet on mobile TV with immediate effect," the company said in a short statement to the media.
Vybz Kartel, who is registered as Adijah Palmer, was scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today, but the preliminary hearing failed to get off the ground. Police have since reported that the artiste will face the courts tomorrow.
Vybz Kartel was arrested on Friday by cops from the Flying Squad at a hotel in New Kingston. He and three other persons were charged with possession of marijuana after a small quantity of the contraband was found in the room.

Dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is scheduled to appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court this morning after being slapped yesterday with multiple charges, including murder and conspiracy to murder.

A release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) last night indicated that Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, was also charged with illegal possession of firearm.

The police said the charges against Palmer were made following an interview with the entertainer yesterday afternoon by detectives from the Major Investigation Task Force in the presence of his attorneys

"The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer along with other men conspired to murder Barrington Burton, otherwise called 'Bossie', a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine," the JCF said. "Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park."

Ready for fight

Last night, Palmer's attorney, Christian Tavares-Finson, said he had not yet seen the case file and therefore could not speak in detail on the matter.

He declared, however, that his client was prepared to fight the charges.

When contacted before the JCF's statement last night, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell, who is in charge of the Criminal Investigation Branch, would only say that the artiste - who was arrested for possession of ganja last Friday - "is being investigated in relation to some offences".

Two of the persons held with Palmer during his initial arrest, André St John and Shane Williams, are scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.

The third person, Alicia Jackson, is booked to appear in court on Friday.

Meanwhile, officials from telecommunications provider LIME were last night discussing the situation and a statement was expected to be released today.

LIME is the corporate sponsor of the locally produced reality TV show Teacha's Pet, which has Palmer as the main character.

Entertainer Vybes Kartel spent his first day in jail assembling his legal team, an attorney representing the controversial dancehall figure said yesterday.

"What he has essentially been doing is putting his legal team together, which is myself, Michael Deans, and Christian Tavares-Finson," attorney Tom Tavares-Finson, told the Observer yesterday

At the same time, Assistant Police Commissioner Ealan Powell, said Vybz Kartel's attornies failed to turn up for a schedule interview yesterday, and that as a result investigators are trying to reschedule the interview for this week.

Vybes Kartel, whose real name is Adija Palmer, has been detained as police investigate the discovery of a body at a St Andrew house that he frequents.

He was arrested on drug possession charges by cops who visited a hotel in which he was staying in New Kingston on Friday.

Three other persons who were in the company of the entertainer were also arrested and charged for drug possession. Those persons are also still behind bars, police said.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Under heavy security, a handcuffed Kartel, was driven to Clarendon Avenue off Augusta Drive in Portmore, St Catherine, Friday evening to continue a raid on his properties.
That house is reportedly owned by Vybz Kartel's mother.

After a near hour long search the police personnel left the Clarendon Avenue premises for an undisclosed location.

Houses in Norbrook and Havendale belonging to Vybz Kartel had also been searched by a team from the Caribbean Search Centre earlier on Friday.

Curious onlookers converged at each location as they tried to get a glimpse of the popular entertainer, who was taken into police custody sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.

He was caught with two men and a woman at a small hotel in New Kingston..Kartel was subsequently arrested and charged for possession of ganja, after which a joint police and military team went into high investigation mode.

Reports are that men linked to the entertainer are wanted for murder. This follows unconfirmed reports earlier this month that the police were looking for an entertainer with the intention of charging him for murder.

Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has been keeping a very low profile in recent time. His most anticipated appearance ended in disaster as he absented himself from the media launch of his reality seried, Teacha's Pet.

Sponsors of Teacha's Pet, LIME, told the press that Kartel's absence was due to a doctor's appointment. Unconfirmed reports are that he was not present because he knew the police were searching for him and feared they would have swooped down on him at the launch.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ealan Powell, has confirmed that Vybz Kartel's arrest is linked to a wider investigation. A press conference is to be held sometime next week.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Was deejay Vybz Karetl hiding from the cops?

Reports are that the entertainer got tipped off that he was being hunted and has been in hiding since the end of August.

"Him don't sleep at him house and that is why him neva show up adi launch the other day ...cause him never want the police come hold him there," a source told chatychaty

According to the confidante, the police have been onto Kartel and have even been trailing his vehicle.

"When them hold on toe Gaza Slim, and the next yute the other day, dem swear say dem did have him. But it was the yute a drive Kartel Benz and police think it was Kartel. That's why dem question Gaza Slim and let her go, but dem hold on to di yute."

A report carried on September 20 in Jamaica's popular evening tabloid The Star, stated that "upcoming Portmore Empire recording artiste Vanessa Bling, also known as Gaza Kim, was taken into police custody on Sunday, but later released. On Sunday afternoon, rumours quickly surfaced that the deejay Vybz Kartel was seen in handcuffs along Upper Waterloo Road in St Andrew. However, it was Vanessa Bling and another man who were passengers in Vybz Kartel's Benz who were apprehended by the police.

Police officers from the Flying Squad on patrol in the area saw the artiste and the man and took them into custody. They were questioned. Vanessa Bling was subsequently released. Meanwhile, the unidentified man who is allegedly wanted by the police remains in custody".

Sources close to the entertainer now say that Kartel's absence from the recent launch of his reality show, Teacha's Pet, was due to his fear that the police would have come for him there. "Him did feel say the police woulda come fi him either during or after the launch," the source said.

The organisers told the gathering that the artiste was "at the doctor".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

POLICE sources have indicated that Deejay Vybz Kartel is being questioned in relation to a body that was found in a house reportedly owned by him in Havendale, St Andrew. The body was found a few weeks ago the source said.
"The body was partially burnt and was decomposing. A section of the premises was also burnt," the source said.

Vybz Kartel was picked up by cops at a small hotel in New Kingston last night hours after he completed the filming of season two of a television series, Teachas Pet. A small quantity of ganja was found in the hotel room and Vybz Kartel, along with three other persons have since been charged with possession of the banned substance.
Police have promised to release a statement later today and are scheduled to reveal further details during a press conference early next week.
It is unlikely that Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, will be offered bail before next week.
