Police say one man is assisting their investigations into the murder of three people, including his wife today.
Police said that the man, whose name has not yet been released, allegedly shot and killed his wife, Ingrid Jack, as well as two other persons in the Campden Park area, during what one eyewitness described as a “killing frenzy”. The names of the other two people killed have not yet been released.
Two other persons, Simeon James and Desroy John, have been taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.
The eyewitnesses said that the shootings began after the man’s wife apparently handed him a letter from the courts.
Acting Prime Minister Gurlyn Miquel said that the nation had been “thrown into mourning by the brutal murders”.
She said that the government “condemns this gruesome act and sympathises with families who have lost their loved ones.
“Be assured the perpetrator of this horrific act will be brought to justice,” she said, adding that her statement should be seen as a reminder to citizens who “think that the solution to any ill in the society is to take the matter into their own address their problems.
“They are so incorrect in their thinking. Our government will reinforce what is necessary to make our society secure and safe for all our citizens,” she said, reminding Vincentians that “it is wrong to take human life and it also wrong to shed human blood”.
