UWI student dead and another hospitalised after attending event on campus

Our news centre has learnt that a female student of the University of the West Indies Mona Campus, became ill and died after attending a social event on campus this week. Another student is said to be in Hospital as well, after also becoming ill. The student who died is said to be a Bahamian medical student. It's widely believed they got sick after eating specially baked brownies, while consuming alcohol. Reports are that she was at the event with friends when she and a companion ate the brownies while drinking alcohol. They reportedly collapsed afterwards and were taken to Hospital. The Police have not yet confirmed the incident, and the death has also not yet been reported to the public by the University administration, pending notification to the deceased student's family.

@ Vincent Bramwell, Peter Grant is right. All these blogs come reports by the media which they job is to get in your business and say whatever it is to f*** up your life. But I understand what you are saying because they still did a report on the story without the family even knowing no matter how long ago it was. But I'm about to tell you how the media is. Something happened at the University, the media got wind of something was going down either by somebody contacting them or police scanner. The police was doing what they do and then here come the media, while the police was trying to find out what happened the media was questioning other students that was just standing around and after hearing the same story from about five different students, the media took that story and ran with it. That's why they wrote "The police have not yet confirmed the incident, and the death has also not yet been reported to the public by the University administration, pending notification to the deceased student's family". Because the police did not and wouldn't give them any information and when they tried to question the University administration they most likely told the media that they wasn't giving out any information because the deceased student's family wasn't notified. But as you can see the media still went ahead and reported the situation any way with what they was told probably out in the parking lot. That's another reason why this blog is so short. Some times I can't stand the media because they are so quick to add they own s*** to a story to make it look or sound interested when really they don;t know what the f*** they are talking about. So, it was the media that couldn't respect that family and reported that s***.

When he wrote it he said "they have not reported it yet pending notification of the student's family" That is what concerns me, I think we  need to show a little more respect to these families and the families that have children there that won't know if it's their child or not that this report is about. It will serve to cause these people so much more pain and anxiety worrying and wondering if it's their daughter, and still have to wait for the school and authorities to contact them to confirm. Are we really so callused and unfeeling that we the public can't wait until after the family has been properly notified? There needs to be a law!

So why are you reporting it, don't you think that family deserves a little more respect? This is how they are to find out their child is dead? What about the other families that have children at that University are they to now be sitting and wondering  and fretting that it might be there child and waiting for the police to call after reading your report? Have some respect a****** and at least wait until the families are notified before you start reporting. This is not a race to tell the public, we can wait to read the story another few days.
