THE Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT)
this morning confirmed that it had suspended all existing ties with entertainer Machel Montano.
In a statement, TSTT gave no reason for suspending its sponsorship deal with Montano, who was found guilty last month on charges of assaulting four persons outside the Zen nightclub in Port of Spain on April 26, 2007, and on the charge of using obscene language.
Montano was due to be sentenced on January 17, but the sentencing
was adjourned on February 25.
Since Montano's guilty verdict, a number of persons and non government organisations have called on TSTT to cut ties with the superstar, who was scheduled to perform today at the TSTT-sponsored Soca in bSquare concert series at Woodford Square, Port of Spain.
In its media release TSTT stated that "at this time it has suspended all existing arrangements between Mr Montano and the company.
However, TSTT wishes to reiterate to its customers that it is a long
supporter of the nation's culture.
The company also wishes to assure the general public that it remains committed to its leading role in providing valued telecommunications services for the people of Trinidad and Tobago".

He Is A sell out Theif.
Keep your head up Machel. No Jail time.
TSTT has a right to suspend their ties with Machel if they think he is a bad example for the people of Trinidad & Tobago. You have to give correction whenit is needed and commendation when it is genuinely deserved. There is no question Machel is a talented entertainer/singer you name it, but you have to control your self and dont let you emotions get the best of you.He is a young man and we all make mistakes. However we hope he would learn from this experience reguardless of the out come of his trial.Do not think of yourself more highly than you should.Instead be humble and greatful that God has blessed you with so much talent.
