Trump’s failed leadership led to the U.S. having by far the worst coronavirus outbreak in the world. Now, as cases skyrocket, hospitalizations set new records, and deaths surpass 250,000, Trump is refusing to do anything. Instead, he is lying and sulking over his election defeat as his own administration warns that the pandemic will only get worse.
The U.S. is still the worst-affected nation in the world and just surpassed the grim milestone of 250,000 coronavirus deaths.
ABC News: “The United States is the worst-affected nation, with more than 11.5 million diagnosed cases and at least 250,537 deaths.”
Hospitals are overwhelmed, and hospitalizations have doubled in the past month and set new records each day this week.
Associated Press: “‘Tired to the bone’: Hospitals overwhelmed with virus cases”
Associated Press: “The number of people in the hospital with COVID-19 in the U.S. has doubled in the past month and set new records every day this week. As of Tuesday, nearly 77,000 were hospitalized with the virus.”
A top Trump administration health official warned that hospitalizations and deaths will get worse as cases continue to skyrocket.
CNN: “'This will get worse.' A top US official says hospitalizations and deaths will keep climbing as Covid-19 cases explode nationwide”
CNN: “‘We have had one million cases documented over the past week, our rate of rise is higher than it even was in the summer, we have hospitalizations going up 25% week over week,’ Adm. Brett Giroir, assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services, told CNN. ‘There are so many more cases that we have, that deaths are going up.’”
As Americans die at an increasing rate, Trump refuses to do anything and is instead sulking over and lying about his election defeat.
CNN: “As the US speeds past the tragic mark of a quarter of a million Covid-19 deaths, its President is sulking in the White House over an election he lost fair and square and obstructing the effort by his soon-to-be successor, Joe Biden, to stand up a fight against the fast-worsening pandemic. President Donald Trump is fixated on his failing, threadbare challenges to the election and is tweet-spreading lies about vote fraud, instead of using his platform and power to confront a once-in-a-century health emergency he falsely assured the nation was all but over.”
