A Georgia couple said Friday they have forgiven two sons accused of trying to kill them by drugging and brutally attacking them before attempting to blow up the family's suburban Atlanta home.

Yvonne and Zachery Ervin, both 50, spoke publicly for the first time since the alleged September 5 attack with local news media outlets outside Gwinnett County Court.

Their sons, Christopher Ervin, 22, and Cameron Ervin, 17, face charges including aggravated assault and arson after allegedly strangling and beating Yvonne and stabbing Zachary.

Standing next to his wife, who still had bruises on her face from the attack, Zachary said: 'We forgive our sons and we love them unconditionally.

'We had to make sure they understand that.'

Friday was the first time the Ervins had been at a hearing for the brothers, WSB-TV reported.

'Those were not our boys that did that to us,' Yvonne said.

'We did not raise our boys that way.

'We understand there are consequences for what they did, they understand that, but we're just praying that the world forgives them the same way that we forgive them.'

A search warrant released earlier in the week revealed one of the brothers had fantasized about murdering his parents and collecting the insurance money ever since he was 11.

Police did not indicate whether it was Christopher or Cameron.

The couple declined to discuss the motive for the attack and instead spread a positive message.

Yvonne said: 'God has done miraculous healing with us.

'We're doing great. We're healing both mentally and physically.'

While Zachary distracted them during the September attack, Yvonne called 911 and told a dispatcher that her sons were trying to kill her.

She said they had drugged her and her husband by putting Xanax in their drinks before the attack.

When officers arrived, they found a bloody scene inside the family's home.

Zachary emerged from the garage covered in blood, Gwinnett County police said.

The brothers had also turned on the gas to the fireplace and lit a candle in a failed attempt to blow up the house, Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter has said.

The parents told police their sons also tried to strangle them, and Yvonne said that what she believed was a flammable liquid had been poured on her, WXIA reported.

The brothers are being held without bail.

Yvonne Ervin's 911 call from her sons' alleged attack released by Georgia police

  • Christopher Ervin, 22, and his 17-year-old brother Cameron were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and first-degree arson
  • Mother Yvonne was seriously injured and their father Zachary remains hospitalized with 'multiple stab wounds and severe head injury'
  • Alleged attack happened in family's Snellville, Georgia home on Saturday
  • Yvonne told the 911 dispatcher that her sons had drugged the couple with Xanax and then attacked them when they thought parents were asleep
  • When the dispatcher asked why they had started the attack Yvonne said, 'I don't know, I really don't, I guess they want the insurance money'
  • Yvonne also said the sons had taken their parents' shotgun and pistol

Police have released the 911 call an Atlanta mother made as her two sons allegedly tried to kill her and their father at the family's home, attacking the parents when they thought they were asleep.

Christopher Ervin, 22, and his 17-year-old brother Cameron were taken into custody on Saturday after police found them outside of their Snellville, Georgia home.

Their parents Yvonne and Zachary Ervin, both 50, were immediately taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The couple's struggle can be heard in Yvonne's dramatic and disturbing 911 call, which she made shortly before 8am last Saturday.

'Please send someone to my house,' she begins, breathing heavily. 'My children are trying to kill me.'

'What do you mean that your children are trying to kill you?' the emergency dispatcher asks.

'They've attacked me and my husband,' Yvonne continues. 'They drugged us with Xanax, they've attacked us and they're trying to kill us.'

'My husband has distracted them and I was able to get to the phone please hurry.'

'They tried to strangle and shoot us, they put Xanax in our food, they thought we were asleep and they tried to attack us, They beat me up, they beat him up, they're trying to kill us.'

'Please please, please hurry,' she continues to repeat. 'Please hurry, please hurry.'

The dispatcher then asks Yvonne where her children and husband are and she reveals that Zachary made it to the garage and was trying to blow the car horn to get their neighbor's attention to the house.

She then tells the dispatcher the names and ages of her sons before revealing her sons are armed.

'They have a shotgun,' she said. 'We have a shotgun and a pistol in the house and I can't find my pistol so I'm assuming they've taken it - and they have his shotgun.'

The dispatcher then asks Yvonne why her sons began their attack.

'I don't know what's going on,' she responded. 'I don't know why they've done this, I really don't, I guess they want the insurance money, I'm not sure.'

She then tells the dispatcher again that she heard her sons say they put Xanax in their drinks and had mentioned it after they began to attack their parents.

'That's why we were so sleepy,' she says. 'We didn't understand why were so sleepy.'

When the dispatcher asked Yvonne why the sons had begun their attack she responded, 'I don't know what's going on, I don't know why they've done this...I guess they want the insurance money, I'm not sure'

Yvonne then tells the dispatcher she's going to try and lock her bedroom door before saying, 'I just heard them say "Where did mom go?", they're headed upstairs now'.

She can then be heard screaming while a voice on the background is heard asking, 'you on the phone?'

Yvonne then tells the dispatcher what sounds like, 'he's dragging me away,' before her line goes silent and the dispatcher just keeps asking, 'Hello? hello?'

Christopher and Cameron Ervin have been charged with two counts each of aggravated assault as well as first-degree arson.

Police said they found blood and broken furniture throughout the house and also believe the brothers' tampered with the gas line to start a fire, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Zachary Ervin had been stabbed multiple times and had a severe head injury after he was hit with a shotgun.

Yvonne, who was 'seriously injured', was found lying on her bed by officers. She has since been released from the hospital but Zachary is still being treated.

Cameron Ervin was outside the home when officers arrived at the scene. His brother was found lying face down in a second-floor bathroom.

Neither Cameron nor Christopher are believed to have a previous criminal record and there is no history of domestic calls at their home. They have yet to provide police with a motive.

'Just kill me now,' Cameron allegedly said in a police cruiser, according to WSB-TV

'I tried to f****** kill my parents. Who does that?'

Ricardo, so as not to disrespect you I will simply say you completely missed my point. Reading is fundamental, but comprehension is priceless. Secondly, things aren't always as they seem. Especially in the south. I know this personal. Lastly, I'm of a Black woman who happens to love being just that.

@Sherrie, not every Black families with crazy ass kids as you put it are the same. That's an irresponsible/judgmental statement. You know nothing about these boys and their parents to pontificate your assumptions. All you know is what is given. Judging from the photos and how the parents handled the matter, it look like this is a decent, caring and loving family who fall prey to violence and evil.

It's very ironic you stated white Jesus when you people created him for us to accept as The Lord Jesus. We weren't fooled. The bible give descriptive details of the Lord and He is nothing what you people has been portraying.

I totally agreed with all the comments...if they were my kids,i would never trust them as long as they live.they are selfish, with no love for there parent.all they care about is the money.i would take there ass off my policy immediately....tried to kill your parent to get there life insurance!!!!!!!!.

While I find it hard to be able to forgive my son for trying to kill me, I would definitely cut them from my life.

If we all lived by God rules and laws those two boys would be dead by now!!! But we live by different rules and laws. If I was woke up to my kids trying to kill me and they didn't pull it off, they would probably be dead bu the time the cops got there. If they wasn't dead then they would be disowned by me and if they name was on my policy it would come off. I would rather leave my money to a homeless person then to leave it to my kids who tried to kill me!!! I wish they was questioned and it was shared with us because I just want to know what the f**k was going through they head when they came up with that plan and then when they tried to go through with that crazy sh*t. My mother raised 7 kids by her self with no father in the picture, my father left out our life when I was 10 years old and I'm 36 now, I only saw him once since he left and not one time did I think about killing him. These guys get to see both of they parents everyday and are raised by both of they parents and have a roof over they head and food on the table and they come up with this dumb ass plan to kill them. I bet they ass in jail right now wanting mommy and daddy to come save them. The parents say they forgive them but f**k that if it was me I wouldn't even be able to trust they ass no more!!!

Ricardo, your last sentence makes no sense. But, I digress. These kids grew up in Snellville, Georgia. I would be shocked if the weren't in church getting special prays every Sunday. Christianity is a huge part of southern culture. Anyone who admits to dreaming of killing their parents since they were 11 have some issues that white Jesus couldn't fix. The parents forgive them because they know their children are crazy as ass and they didn't do anything about it. The children are mentally ill and so are the parents. I bet if they interviewed some of their former teachers and neighbors we would probably hear a million horror stories about how horrible these boys were/are. They probably got in trouble and their parents bailed them out each and every time. I grew up in the south with a lot of Black American families just like them. Crazy ass kids and overindulgent parents. It's all about the appearance of the perfect family. Now the world knows what they've been hiding.
