TMZ reports that The Weeknd has pleaded no contest in a case stemming from a January incident in which he allegedly punched a Las Vegas polic.... The Beauty Behind The Madness singer entered the plea in a Las Vegas court earlier today and will avoid time behind bars in accordance with a judge's orders, according to TMZ. The Weeknd, whose given name is Abel Tesfaye, has been ordered to complete an anger management course, undergo an alcohol evaluation, and contribute 50 hours of community service, a punishment he's been allowed to carry out in his home country of Canada. Tesfaye's case will reportedly be dismissed if he meets the judge's orders and stays out of any more trouble with the law.

The original incident took place at 4:20 am on a Saturday morning earlier this year following the arrival of police at the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas where The Weeknd was involved in a fight. Tesfaye allegedly punched a police officer that pulled him into an elevator while trying to break up the fight. The original charge was battery of a protected person.
