This man is an engineer, mathematician and geologist who used the Connection Machine supercomputer to analyze petroleum fields. He left school at the age of 13 to be a part of the Nigerian-Biafran war. However that did not deter him from completing school through self-study and earning his degree in Mathematics. His achievements do not end here. He earned three Master’s degree in Mathematics, Environmental and Marine Engineering from various universities. When he appeared before the board to receive his PhD at the University of Michigan, he was denied his degree. He sued the University on grounds of racial discrimination. Emeagwali has an IQ of 190 which is classified higher than a genius. It is sad even though he is brilliant with a higher IQ than probably anyone at the University, but was denied his PhD. It goes to prove that you cannot let anyone else determine your worth. That you can still make a significant contribution to the world even if you are not acknowledged by everyone.
Time magazine said “the Web owes much of its existence to Philip Emeagwali”- Time Magazine. He was ranked by number 1 by Google for “contribution to the development of the computer.” As well as named the 35th Greatest African of all Time alongside the honorable Nelson Mandelia. So not having the letters “PhD” behind his name can never discredit the amazing things he has done for the world of technology.

I'M WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING PROBLEM S WITH THEIR POSTS WAITING IN LIMBO TO BE APPROVED----APPARENTLY THIS IS SOMETHING NEW, AS i HAVE SEVERAL POSTS IN QUE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND THE INFO NO LONGER BECOMES VALID DUE TO THE TIME IT LAGS IN QUE--FURTHERMORE I CAN'T MAKE A COMMENT ON MY OWN POSTS UNTIL THEY ARE APPROVED----ARE WE NOW BEING CENSORED
I would like to know what was the reasons the University of Michigan gave for the denial of Mr Emeagwali PHD degree?
Very intelligent man, he wrote an amazing CM-2 parallel computer application for the oil industry. I would not say he's the father of the internet when the internet had already existed before he came up with the brilliant idea to enhance the technology. May be he is the father of the CM-2 application.
No DEGREE should be a discredit to no one...there are millionaires that are HS and college dropouts, thank you. It's how you acquire your education, not where your education comes from...
