This is the terrifying moment a bus rolled down a Brooklyn street backwards after the driver left it in neutral.

A man who was changing his tire was forced to leap out the way to avoid the oncoming bus which went flying down Palmetto Street in Bushwick, New York, at around 12.30am Wednesday morning.

He is now being treated for injuries at a local hospital, NBC New York reports.

There were no passengers aboard at the time, and the female bus driver was seen leaving the bus moments before it rolled away.

It is not clear if she will face charges over the incident. Police say she had left the bus in neutral, not park before it rolled away.

The ten damaged cars have all been towed away, while the church was not seriously damaged.
