I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People, a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 25,000 signatures by January 19, 2013, the White House will review it and respond!
We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

Here's some more information about this petition:
Bring prayer back in public schools to protect our children. How many more must die before we teach putting God first? Schools represent the nation’s hope for the future. We must take all measures to safeguard our children so that less children are massacred openly in our schools. Our nation mourns Sandy Hook’s slain children.
We are tired of the enemy stealing and killing our children. We petition the White House to bring back prayer into the public schools to protect our kids and cover them with prayers. Most kids know about God, so it won't be a foreign concept. We can keep the prayer basic and all inclusive. The Lord’s prayer would be perfect for this. It’s short and sweet yet powerful. The kids who are atheist don't have to repeat the prayer if they don't want to. Prayer works. Here are the benefits to be gained:
1. Prayer will help steer the youth in the right direction and keep them on the right path.
2. Prayer will stop the free reign of satan in our youth's lives.
3. Prayer will reinforce what parents teach at home.
4. Prayer will make the teachers' job easier.
5. Prayer will calm the youth down a bit, they will be less unruly.
6. Prayer will teach them to respect, love and honor their elders, themselves and each other.
7. Memorizing a prayer will help students to learn the strategy of memorizing text and they will hence become better students. Aids memorization skills: students get better results when taking tests and exams.
8. Students will become more responsible and respectable adults.
9. Teaching children a prayer aids in emotional and social development.
10. Prayer will help all students, especially foster kids, bipolar and special needs students to cope better with life’s problems.
How many more children have to die before we make a stand?
We can learn from the British. In Great Britain, according to the Guardian Newspaper, 9.1m crimes were reported in 2011/12, down from 9.7m the previous year, and 27.2% lower than ten years ago. *551 homicides (includes murder, manslaughter and infanticide) were reported in 2011/12, a considerable drop on the previous year's total of 638. Homicides are now down to around half of the figure for 2001/2.
In the USA there were 14, 611 murders reported in 2011, according to Disaster Center crime rates statistics. Approximate 43 m total crimes reported in 2011. Roughly 9m in 1960.
The United Kingdom allows prayer in the public schools. Can there be a direct link to this being the reason for considerably less crime? School children are our nation’s hope. Let us shape their future as positively as we know how.
Join us in the movement to bring prayer back into our public schools. For the kids whose parents do not want them to know God and to pray, they can choose to remain silent, that is their right.
The bottom line is that too many children are being murdered in our schools. They are also being bullied, ostracized, jumped and molested. It is time to do something about this. Allow prayer back into the schools, prayer changes things. The public has a right to vote on this issue and to petition the White house and lawmakers to do the right thing to protect our nation’s most precious resource, our youth. Our youth have become an unruly bunch, with only a small percentage succeeding. Putting prayer back into our schools will undoubtedly produce better students, better human beings. At the very least, more of our children will be alive to see the future.
