Enough’: Soho Karen Shushes Gayle King and Gives Her The Hand. See Gayle’s Reaction. (Watch)

‘SoHo Karen’ Was Busted in Another Hotel Incident – LA Activists Demand LAPD Arrest/Extradite Her – VIDEO 32D83201-0D5A-4683-8F6A-53B6F6F012BE_4_5005_c

Miya Ponsetto (L) shushing Gayle King on her computer screen during their interview on “CBS: This Morning” (airdate Jan. 8, 2021)

Miya Ponsetto, a.k.a. Soho Karen, cut off Gayle King by giving her the hand during their remote interview for “CBS This Morning,” not long before she was arrested in Ventura County on Thursday.

In the interview that aired Friday, the 22-year-old – flanked by her lawyer and sporting a black baseball cap that read “Daddy” – attempted to justify the Dec. 26, 2020, incident in which she tackled 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr. at a New York hotel, believing that he stole her iPhone, only to learn later that she left it in an Uber.

“I was approaching the people that had been exiting the hotel, because in my mind, anybody exiting is probably the one that, might be the one that is trying to steal my phone,” Ponsetto said.

“I admit, yes, I could have approached the situation differently or maybe not yelled at him like that and made him feel, maybe some sort of inferior way — making him feel as if I was, like, hurting his feelings because that’s not my intention. I consider myself to be super sweet. I really never ever meant for it to, like, hurt him or his father, either.”

Asked if she was stopping everyone who was leaving the hotel, Ponsetto admitted she was not.

With an attitude, she continued: “The hotel did have my phone. The hotel did end up having my phone. I did get my belongings returned to me.”

On Thursday, the New York Police Department flew detectives out to California with a warrant for Ponsetto’s arrest.

The footage SoHo Karen didn't want you to see: Woman who falsely accused black boy, 14, of stealing her iPhone and then claimed SHE was attacked is filmed asssaulting HIM Well now isn’t this interesting and totally not surprising. Miya Ponsetto, infamously known far and wide as SoHo Karen because she attacked a black teen after falsely accusing him of stealing her iPhone, is no stranger to starting ish at hotels, it seems. In fact, she was arrested for creating a disturbance a year ago in February.

Not only is Ponsetto being looked at for possible arrest by authorities in NYC over the iPhone incident, but she also caused quite a fuss — allegedly — at the Peninsula hotel in Bev Hills back in February.

Miya and her mom, Nicole apparently wore out their welcome when Peninsula staff ordered them to leave, but they refused. Law enforcement sources say someone from the hotel called police, told them the women looked drunk and refused to leave … so Beverly Hills cops showed up to handle the situation.

Our law enforcement sources say when they arrived and tried to get Miya and Nicole to leave, Nicole allegedly pushed and kicked a cop. Both women were arrested … Nicole for battery on a police officer and being drunk in public. While Miya was arrested for being drunk in public. They have a court hearing later this month.

Now get this … the L.A. County District Attorney charged both women on May 27, 2020. The very next day, Miya was arrested again, this time for drunk driving. She pled no contest and was sentenced to 3 years probation, 30 hours of community service and she must take a 9-month alcohol/drug counseling program.

As for the phone incident — in case you don’t know turns out she left her phone in an Uber — seems Miya has a thing for phones — her Etsy page is littered with custom phone cases she favors. Even if she’s obsessed with phones, it’s no reason to flip out on 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr., New York authorities are considering serious charges against her.

Cops are currently on the hunt for 22-year-old Miya. Like the NYPD, so far we’ve been unable to contact her, although we do know she’s back in SoCal, where she lives.

Speaking of Southern California, Los Angeles based civil rights leaders (Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Najee Ali – see their news conference via video immediately above) are demanding that the LAPD arrest and extradite Ponsetto for attacking the 14-year-old son of jazz musician Keyon Harrold after falsely accusing the youngster of stealing her phone. The incident was caught on video and went viral via social media. Hutchinson also demanded that New York prosecutors bring hate crime charges against Ponsetto.

“The immediate arrest by the LAPD and extradition of Ponsetto,” says Hutchinson,” Will send the strong message that those who perpetrate racially motivated attacks will be swiftly arrested, extradited and prosecuted—with no exceptions in L.A. It will also send the message to New York prosecutors that hate crime charges should be filed against her.”

'Shell-shocked' teen, 14, falsely accused of stealing 'Soho Karen's' phone at Manhattan hotel says he 'doesn't know what would have happened if his dad wasn't there to defend him'

The NYPD has released new surveillance footage of the woman dubbed 'SoHo Karen' tackling the 14-year-old son of a black musician to the ground in a New York City hotel while accusing him of stealing her phone

  • The video was shared on social media Wednesday night by NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison
  • It shows the woman suddenly run at Keyon Harrold Jr., grab him by the waist and tackle him to the ground in the Arlo Hotel on Saturday
  • Its release comes just hours after the 22-year-old woman gave a rambling interview to CNN where she claimed it was her who was assaulted in the dispute
  • The boy's father, Grammy-winning African American jazz artist Keyon Harrold, had previously posted separate footage filmed on his smartphone on Instagram
  • It showed the woman pushing and grabbing at the father and son, wrongly believing it to be hers
  • Moments after the scuffle, her phone was returned to her by an Uber driver
  • The 'Karen' is yet to be publicly identified with the NYPD telling DailyMail.com Thursday morning her name will not be released unless an arrest is made
  • Boy's family and civil rights attorney Ben Crump are calling for charges

SoHo Karen,” the white woman who falsely accused a Black teenager of stealing her cell phone in a now-viral video, is finally speaking out.

We previously reported… video of the woman lunging at the teen in the lobby of the Arlo Hotel in Manhattan hotel was filmed by the boy’s father, jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold. He posted the video on Sunday with the caption, “I am furious!!! We see this crap happening all the time, but it hits different when it hits home!!!”

In a 20-minute phone interview with CNN, the still-unidentified woman said she confronted another person in the lobby and told them to “empty their pocket” before she targeted Harrod’s son, Keyon.

Also during her sometimes rambling call with CNN, the woman claimed she was assaulted during the altercation with Keyon Sr. and his son, though she failed to provide further details, including who allegedly assaulted her.

“That’s when everything got a little bit more serious,” she told the outlet. CNN withheld the woman’s name “because she said she has concerns for her safety unrelated to this incident.”

The 22-year-old’s allegation has not been corroborated by investigators or any witnesses to the December 26 incident.

After she eventually agreed to provide evidence to the network to support the claim, the woman, who lives out of state, reportedly stopped replying to CNN’s messages and calls.

The woman admits she is worried about the charges she may face over the altercation.

“Of course I worry,” she said. “That’s not who I am. I actually… try very hard to make sure that I am always doing the right thing.”

Harrold, who has worked with the likes of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, said he and his son were headed to breakfast on Saturday when the woman “assaulted” them. The video shows her frantically telling a hotel manager that Keyon had her phone.

“Take the case off that’s mine. Literally get it back,” she barks at the manager.

The teen insists that he’s holding his own phone, as Harrold asks the woman “You think there’s only one iPhone made in the world?”

In an Instagram caption accompanying Harrod’s cell phone video of the incident, he said the woman physically attacked him and his son.

“I’m not letting him walk away with my phone!” she can be heard saying in the video.

An Uber driver returned the woman’s phone to the hotel after the incident.

The NYPD Chief of Detectives said the woman will likely be charged with assault.

The 14-year-old black teen who was attacked by 'SoHo Karen' when she wrongly accused him of stealing her phone says he's still 'shell-shocked' and fears what would have happened if his father wasn't with him.

On Saturday Grammy-winning African American jazz artist Keyon Harrold filmed the moment a young woman approached his 14-year-old son Keyon Jr in the lobby of the boutique Arlo Hotel in SoHo and tackled him.

'I don’t know what would have happened if my dad wasn’t there. These past few days, still kind of shell-shocked, but I’m hanging in there,' Keyon Jr said on Good Morning America Tuesday.

'For me I was confused because I had never seen that lady ever and I didn’t know what to do in the moment. That’s why I was happy to have my dad here to help me,' he said.

Video of the incident was shared on social media, where it sparked outrage. The family's lawyer is petitioning the Manhattan District Attorney's office to press charges including assault and battery.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Arlo hotel for comment.

'SoHo Karen'

On Saturday Grammy-winning African American jazz artist Keyon Harrold filmed the moment a young white woman approached his 14-year-old son Keyon Jr in the lobby of the boutique Arlo Hotel in SoHo and tackled him. Now civil rights attorney Ben Crump is demanding she be hit with charges

On Monday the DA’s office and the New York Police Department said they were investigating the incident.

SoHo Karen is yet to be publicly identified.

An Instagrammer last seen in a photograph on Instagram at the hotel six days ago has since posted a denial that she is the 'Karen' after being bombarded with abuse on social media accusing her of being the woman in the video.

Cassandra Medina, a registered nurse from Staten Island, posted a message on her Instagram Sunday saying: 'I’ve been tagged all morning in this video and this is not me.It’s not ok to be falsely accused on social media and I wouldn’t want that happening to anyone.'

She then addressed Harrold in her post, saying: 'I hope you find truely (sic) who this person is because what she did is disgusting and this hotel should be held accountable.'

On Tuesday GMA host TJ Holmes asked Keyon Jr why he thinks the woman accused him and physically came after him.

'I think it’s because for me, I was a threat to her, and I think she was scared, so that’s why when she saw me she like jumped on me and attacked me,' Keyon Jr said.

His father said the woman was 'all on him asking him for his phone immediately.'

After video of the incident cut off she 'basically tackled, she scratched me.'

Keyon Jr's mother Kat Rodriguez revealed she feared for her son's life when she heard about the incident.

When asked if he feared for his life in the attack, Keyon Jr said 'Yes. I think because if you’re by yourself, right? And you have no one to help you and you have no proof and it was just me by myself, it would have been a different story'

'For me, fear. Fear came in because my son, if his father wouldn’t have been there, what would’ve happened to my son if the cops had been called? As a mother, when my son asks me "Why me, mom," it just hurt,' she said.

'The toughest answer that a parent has to give their child – "Son, unfortunately, it might be because you’re black. You’re no longer seen as a child,"' she added.

She says she wants to hear SoHo Karen’s side to understand why she launched the attack.

When asked if he feared for his life in the attack, Keyon Jr said 'Yes.'

'I think because if you’re by yourself, right? And you have no one to help you and you have no proof and it was just me by myself, it would have been a different story,' Keyon said.

Video of the woman lunging at the teen in the lobby of a Manhattan hotel was filmed by the boy’s father, jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold. He posted the video on Sunday with the caption, “I am furious!!! We see this crap happening all the time, but it hits different when it hits home!!!”

The musician, who has worked with the likes of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, said he and his son were headed to breakfast on Saturday when the woman “assaulted” them. The video shows her frantically telling a manager at the Arlo Hotel in SoHo that Harrold’s son had her phone.

“Take the case off that’s mine. Literally get it back,” she barks at the manager.

The teen insists that he’s holding his own phone, as Harrold asks the woman “You think there’s only one iPhone made in the world?”

The woman continues to say that “he has my phone,” before telling both father and son she won’t let them leave until the teen gives it back, then lunging after both of them.

At one point, Harrold can be heard asking the woman if she accused his son of theft simply because he is Black.

Watch below or view here on Instagram:

While the video is 63 seconds long, Harrold, 40, says the encounter lasted about five minutes, during which the woman scratched him and tackled his son. He also criticized the manager for “advocating” for the woman.

“Watch as the manager advocates for the lady who is not even a hotel guest, insisting and attempting to use his managerial authority to force my son to show his phone to this random lady,” Harrold wrote. “He actually empowered her!!!”

After the Uber driver delivered her phone, Harrold said she didn’t apologize for the “traumatic” situation for his son, or to him, and neither did anyone at the hotel.

An Arlo spokesman did later apologize to Harrold and his son in a statement and said that while the manager called the cops and hotel security stepped in, “more could have been done to de-escalate the dispute.”

“We’re deeply disheartened about the recent incident of baseless accusation, prejudice and assault against an innocent guest of Arlo hotel,” the statement said.

The encounter brought to mind “Central Park Karen” Amy Cooper, who sparked outrage in May when she called police on a Black birdwatcher who had asked her to keep her dog on a leash.

Speaking to The New York Times on Sunday, Harrold said he was left “shell-shocked” by the incident and that he believed his son, Keyon Harrold Jr., was racially-profiled by the woman.

“I wonder what would happen if it were different, if it were a black woman and there was a white 14-year-old,” he said.

He said he worried about what would have happened if he hadn’t been there to protect his son, noting “I’ve seen people be hurt or even killed for less.”

In a follow-up post on Instagram, Harrold — who appeared on the Grammy-winning soundtrack for the 2016 Miles Davis biopic “Miles Ahead” — thanked fans for their support but warned Internet sleuths not to falsely accuse others of being the woman in the video.

A white woman, dubbed by the Internet as “SoHo Karen,” falsely accused a jazz musician’s 14-year-old Black son of stealing her iPhone and began lunging at him in attempts to retrieve it, only to realize that she had left it in an Uber after the driver returned the phone to her minutes later.

Was that her mother or her lawyer? If that was my child, I would have embarrassed her on national TV for being so rude. That's why her ass got into trouble, she wasn't raised right. She thinks she's privileged and could act anyway she wants.
