Shocking footage has revealed the moment a black suspect shot two white police officers in a parking lot after being asked repeatedly by one to take his hands out of his pockets.

Khari Gordon, 22, was arrested on Monday night after shooting Captain Michael Schulman and Jeffrey Martin.

The police officers approached him after pulling him over on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle.

In bodycam footage of their exchange, Captain Schulman is heard asking the young man repeatedly to take his hands out of his pockets

Seconds later, Gordon is heard firing his gun at the 50-year-old who fell to the ground screaming.

He went on to shoot Officer Martin, 22, before fleeing the scene on foot. The footage appeared on LiveLeak on Wednesday.

Captain Schulman, 50, was shot in the armpit and officer Martin was shot in the hand. Both were taken to hospital.

Captain Schulman, who is a father-of-two, remains in intensive care unit with a punctured lung. Officer Martin was discharged from hospital but must undergo specialist surgery to remove a bullet from his hand.

He is an army veteran who joined the force less than one year ago.

After shooting the police men, Gordon fled on foot and hid for several hours in woodlands before being caught.

He has been denied bail and faces two counts of felony intent of murder, two counts of aggravated assault on an officer and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle called for an end to police shootings on Monday as he gave details of the incident.

'Yesterday was a terrible day for law enforcement in the state of Georgia. Four officers were shot.

'This has to end. I don't know what the answer is but it has to end somewhere,' he told Fox News.

Why do these youngsters continue to play with their lives? Where is the value? What's sad is that these young men have no strong examples to folllow and they follow what shows them love or gives them a sense of belonging, which may be a gangster, thug, drug dealer etc. There are no leaders for some of these young men and it's sad. Blacks have got to do better.

WeaverJohn I couldn't of said it better myself .
Handsomeman your belligerent attitude is exactly what we don't need in our Caribbean community.. anger causes more violence towards our black men which is not needed in these times of uncertainty. In this case the officers are in the right.
And as stated in my prior post. I will not side with any criminal by default /due to their skin complexion.
The young man was clearly in the wrong and he is to be penalized.
His actions will come a life sentence and death sentence for the next black man. Think about that!

I agree Mike. Hence, his act of violence affects not only his future, But all our sons, brothers and nephews.
Or better every innocent black man driving on their streets going forward.
Therefore, excuse me for not agreeing with your views. It's my opinion.
I will not side with any man or criminal due to his sink color... if it's not just.

@HandsomeMan, Contrary to your point, I'm surprised that this hasn't been all over the news. This is the first I'm seeing/hearing about it. Like you a look for a war with the po-po. Ain't gonna win that one. In fact, this callous & criminal conduct is inviting more aggression towards innocent, responsible black men by the police. Stop condoning regressive behaviour and hold your community accountable when justified. I understand anger but don't misplace/displace it foolishly.

I agree wit Mike K ... they's gave him plenty chances and he shot them anys way. This hurts alls the good young black men.

I I agree with you Mike K the office gave him numerous chances to take his hands out of his pocket. Therefore, obviously this kid had the intent on shooting the police officers.
we have to look at this problem on both ends. (he asked him numerous times without firing his gun... so whatever he gets he deserves at this point. Clearly he intended to cause harm to they officers, Clearly on this account during their jobs you're 22 years old what are you doing in a stolen car and driving with a firearm ?
