Rihanna Goes Off on Snapchat over Domestic Violence Jokes + Wont Accept Their Apology

The editor-in-chief of Jackie magazine, that called Rihanna “Niggabitch” forced to resign/Rihanna Responds To Racist Magazine Article calling her " De NiggaBitch" (PICS)

Rihanna posted an Instagram Story today to denounce Snapchat after the platform showed an offensive ad featuring the artist to users. The ad was for a smartphone game called Would You Rather that appeared inside Snapchat over the weekend asking users if they would rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown.

Many users caught the thinly veiled reference to the infamous 2009 incident when Chris Brown violently assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown choked, bit, and punched Rihanna and threatened to kill her, landing her in the hospital.

Many on social media have called out Snapchat for making an advertisement out of a terrible incident. Chelsea Clinton said it’s “awful that any company would approve this.”

Snapchat apologized and pulled the ad on Monday, saying in a statement, “The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines.” Rihanna declined to accept the platform’s apology for mistakenly placing the ad after a vetting process, saying, “I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb!”

Snapchat has responded to Rihanna’s Instagram story today, in a statement to The Verge: “This advertisement is disgusting and never should have appeared on our service. We are so sorry we made the terrible mistake of allowing it through our review process. We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again.”

The company notes that it has blocked Would You Rather as an advertiser and that the game was unaffiliated with Snapchat. Snapchat also mentioned that it supports the National Network to End Domestic Violence and the group’s executive vice president sits on Snapchat’s Safety Advisory Board.

Rihanna makes it clear in her statement that she’s more concerned about other domestic violence victims being made fun of by the ad than by her own personal feelings being hurt. Her full statement reads:

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it!!!! This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them...but all the women, children, and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet....you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away.”

Kylie Jenner declared Snapchat to be dead back in February, and the company’s stock tanked by several percentage points after her words. Rihanna’s condemnation today is another blow to the service; so far, the stock has tumbled nearly 5 percent following her Instagram Story.

Rihanna Responds To Racist Magazine Article

After rabid responses from social media, fans, and Rihanna herself, Editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke has resigned.  Hoeke claimed there was no racist motive behind the statement – and claimed it was meant as a joke. The publication has offered Rihanna a chance to express her feelings in their next issue. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that invitation to be accepted. The audacity of this moralistically inept publication to issue a response such as, “it was meant to be a joke” constitutes another insult in itself..

Please read below written on Jackie’s facebook page

Eva Hoeke quits as Editor-in-Chief of Jackie magazine

As a result of a recent publication in Jackie magazine, issue 49, a worldwide outcry arised over an article on page 45 entitled “De Niggabitch”, which refers to Rihanna and her fashion style. This word is used as slang in the United States.

Throughout the various social media there has been an emotional response to this choice of words, as published in Jackie. As a first reaction to this editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke said via Twitter that the choice of words was meant as a joke and offered an apology to anyone who felt offended. This reaction stirred up even more commotion, as Hoeke herself also referred to the term elsewhere in the magazine.

In a second reaction through Twitter, Hoeke came to the following conclusion: ‘1. Don’t publish bad jokes in the magazine 2. Don’t pretend bad jokes to be funny. Sorry guys. My bad.’ The response on social media now took on an international character. In a third reaction Hoeke even stated that she would rectify in the next issue of Jackie. This morning Rihanna replied on the article through Twitter. She was furious over the use of the word ‘niggabitch’ and ended her message with ‘F*** you Eva’. Through social media Hoeke was taunted and threatened in various ways.

Following these events she consulted with publisher Yves Gijrath of GMG. Together they came to the following conclusion: In the interest of Jackie Magazine and all involved she will quit her job as editor-in-chief effective immediately. Hoeke states: ‘I realize that my first reaction through Twitter, in which I indicated that it was a joke, has been an incomplete misrepresentation what me, and also the author of the article, meant. The term ‘niggabitch’ came from America and all we did was describing a style of dress. Because of the enormous pressure through social media I was enticed to promise amendment regarding the linguistic usage in future issues of Jackie. Apart from that I also offered an rectification. I have now come to the conclusion that rectification is not the right solution. I regret that I have taken a stand too quickly regarding an article in Jackie — which moreover had no racial motive at it’s basis. Through the course of events, me and the publisher have concluded that because my credibility is now affected, it is better for all parties if I quit my job as editor-in-chief immediately. After putting my heart and soul into Jackie magazine for eight years, I realize that these errors – although without malicious intentions – are enough reason for leaving.’

Publisher Yves Gijrath regrets the state of affairs and praises Hoeke’s attitude, who primarily thinks of the credibility of the title, which – as she realizes herself – would have been damaged had she stayed. According to Gijrath there’s no doubt about the intentions and qualities of Eva Hoeke, however he does think this joint decision is the correct one. Hoeke concludes: ‘I should have counted to ten before taking unsubtle stands through social media channels. Through this my credibility has been hurt and that neither fits the role of an editor-in-chief, nor Jackie Magazine.

Jackie Magazine will invite Rihanna to share her feelings and thoughts on the article in the next issue

First Gucci now a Dutch Magazine, it is obvious that Rihanna is experiencing some major hate.

Dutch magazine Jackie is under fire today for running an insanely inappropriate story about Rihanna’s evolving style titled “De Niggabitch.”

Rihanna
As quoted in the filthy and racist publication, “She has street cred, she has a ghetto ass and she has a golden throat. Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate niggabitch and displays that gladly, and for her that means: what’s on can come off. If that means she’ll be on stage half naked, then so be it. But Dutch winters aren’t like Jamaican ones [Ed. note: Rihanna is not Jamaican], so pick a clothing style in which your daughter can resist minus ten.

No to the big sunglasses and the pornheels, and yes to the tiger print, pink shizzle and everything that glitters. Now let’s hope she won’t beat anybody up at daycare.”

Rihanna’s response via twitter stated:

@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000′s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past!

“You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense…”N—A B—H”?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…F–K YOU!!!”

Congrats to Rihanna, black is beautiful and that’s why they hate.

Rihanna is not amused.

Rihanna obviously was not feeling the love from Jackie‘s racist bullpen and took a moment to tweet that she is deeply offended on behalf of well, the human race.

Jackie editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke responded with a weak apology, claiming the article was intended to be a joke.

We’re not laughing, Jackie.

thats why i say i stand with the victim when i see a true victim, that was well said RiRi, and i must admit i always say to these negros, i do not have snapchat since it cannot help my business, and i am not concern, but negros make snapchat bigger than other races, all they do is spend time doing dumb s***, like fighting each other on the app or even killing each other live when they could use that time to learn how to write codes, just about every apps that are coming out are from others, but what are the negros are doing, its a damn shame

As long as we disrespect ourselves and each other, this attack will continue.  Calling each other the N and B words has to stop, and we all have to do it.  Don't support artists who use these words and don't join in.  It is a sign of self-hatred not endearment - don't be deceived.  Dressing like a porn star is not good for women - end of story.  May Heaven help us all!

I will have to agree with Jah Tempo on this all the way, if the words and the terms are so offense it should not matter who the F***K its coming from I am so sick of all of this s*** people keep using it freely and then get mad as soon as someone you dont like or feel should not be coining the phrase. S***'s is ugly no matter what a****** says it!!!! When and if the word would flow from my lips its because I am insulting you it damn sure is not a compliment. If we were not so quick to make the term one of endearment maybe other would refrain from the use of it.

Rihanna better not do that article! Then again morals on a whole is out the window when millions of dollars are involved. Blacks in a america sit here and call each other b****** and niggas all day . The music is littered with the use of these terms! Jay z and kanye made a song that got every body calling each other niggas including white people... Bottom line is all this is very hypocritical ! None of us should use the terms .

This goes to show that no matter what ignorance and blatant disrespect towards black women still exists globally. Regardless if we use the n-word amongst ourselves or not, or amongst people that are not of african descent. The thoughts are still rooted in the backs of peoples minds that we are seen ad inferior people, to feel comfortable to practice offensive racism outright.

@Connie love you're welcome.

Earlier this week, the Dutch fashion magazine, Jackie became embroiled in a major controversy when an article in their latest issue referred to the pop star Rihanna as "the ultimate n***abitch." The magazine's editor-in-chief, Eva Hoeke, issued an apology, and later resignation from the publication as a result of the backlash.

Despite Hoeke's apology, Jackie's publisher Yves Gijrath released a statement via the Dutch news site Villamedia saying that his publication has nothing to apologize for, and that the editor-in-chief's credibility was "undermined" by the way she worded her apology.

"[T]here is nothing wrong in the magazine," he said in a statement. "[Hoeke] presented [the offensive article] as a joke, but it most certainly was not a joke. It was an interpretation [of a fashion style] ... She should have said: 'we did not realize this interpretation is such a touchy subject. We never meant any harm and offer our sincere and upright apologies.'"

"But because of all the fuss, Eva started to wiggle in all directions, and therefore we have come to the conclusion her credibility has been undermined."

Gijrath also said that the magazine has no plans on printing a retraction of the issue and "will not be silenced, noting that; "people are totally off limits when calling both the magazine Jackie and Eva Hoeke racist. Jackie is even produced by an editorial staff that is of mixed origins.

I don't know why some of you have an issue with her outfits when you as blacks who originated from Africa is known to be more sexual than other races. Look at our carnivals, look at the African culture. It was the first place I saw topless women.
Stop being hypocrites when in real life many of you wear more skimpy outfits. When i Go to flatbush Harlem Bronx or any of the black neighborhoods in the summer I see the same outfit or at the club.
Besides she is an artist that's what an artist is about.
Turn your TV computer off and stay home if you don't want to see.
Instead of you living your lives in happiness, you worry about the changes you have no control over.
Stand against racism and help make changes instead of worrying about an artist outfit. That's small thinking.

I'm not saying what my bajan sister wears is to my liking but to go to the extent to degrade another human being by words of disrespect to another race in public to gain mileage for sales of a poor magazine. JACKIE U NEED TO RETIRE. As long as there is black and white racism will live on. But we African won't stand for it we will retaliate.
