Rihanna In Barbados Free Land Controversy, what do you think?

Politicians in Barbados have been blasted after they gave Rihanna a free piece of land.

The 'Te Amo' singer - who was born on the island - was handed the real estate in the area of Apes Hill, by Minister of Housing and Lands Michael Lashley.

The gift was a thank-you to RiRi for drawing interest to the Caribbean island nation - but the gesture has angered other officials.

Government Minister Gline Clarke has now slammed the gift, as he doesn't think rich celebrities such as Rihanna should be awarded when other Barbadian residents live in poverty.

WENN quotes him as saying: "Why is the government paying millions of dollars for land for someone who's already making millions?"

Hope she donates this land to a charity ornization that can put it to good use for the poor people that need help. I am sure that this is PRIME real estate. A simple key to the city would have been more than enough of an honor. Smacks of the celebs that go to the awards and come away with expensive loot bags like kids at a birthday party.

I hope you know that people have free minds, and we all don't think the same, you see I over the psat 2 weeks have been listening to Barbados Radio, and the number of people against her getting land, was very small so to say that there is CONTROVERSY is a bunch of Malarkie, please DAVID! why don't you deal with real stories.

No matter how famous or rich she is......when it comes to a piece of this rock, it should be done for the good of te people, sow hat if celebs get land somewhere else......Bim is not that big a place to be giving away land to everyone who is a celeb, yes she has done alot for Barbados in her own way, but her getting land doesn't draw people to the country as far as I far as I'm concerned a country without people is just an island.
