Protests erupt in LA after off-duty cop was filmed pulling his GUN and opening fire on teens because they 'walked on his lawn'

Crowds of people gathered on Wednesday night to protest against an off-duty cop who was caught on camera pulling and firing his gun as he scuffled with a 13-year-old outside his home in Anaheim, California.

The protests were sparked after a video that was filmed on Tuesday afternoon emerged showing the confrontation between the off-duty LAPD cop and a large gang of teens who he had apparently accused of walking on his lawn.

The confrontation ends with the officer pulling his gun out and firing a shot that did not hit anyone as the teens flee. Before that, the officer was filmed struggling with one teen who he accused of threatening to shoot him, then scuffling with the entire group of teens outside his home. 

The unnamed officer was trying to cuff and arrest the apparently unarmed teens when it escalated into a fight. When more officers arrived, the gang of teens were detained by cops and two were arrested. 

It is unclear if the officer meant to fire his gun or if it went off accidentally as he grabbed one of the teenagers. He has not been arrested.

At the heart of the fight are two claims: the officer says the teens threatened to shoot him, but the teen said he threatened to 'sue' him. The teens accuse the officer of calling a girl who was walking on his lawn a 'c***'. 

After a few minutes in the video, the man was pushed over by two other teens in the group, and shortly after he pulled a gun from his waistband with one hand while still holding onto the 13-year-old.

The dramatic scene was documented by many on social media who posted pictures of the police and protesters

After a few minutes in the video, the man was pushed over by two other teens in the group, and shortly after he pulled a gun from his waistband with one hand while still holding onto the 13-year-old.

The incident took place in in Anaheim, California, near Loara High School about 2:40pm. 

Protesters on Wednesday night were seen in videos posted on social media shouting, 'whose streets, our streets,' 'don't shoot our kids,' 'shame on you,' and 'no justice, no peace, f*** the police.' 

One picture was posted on social media showing the words, 'f*** pigs,' spray-painted across a garage door it was claimed belonged to the officer. 

However, the house is not that of the cop in question.

Aerial footage from the scene from KTLA showed the crowd of people, as well as a swarm of police cruisers in the area.  

Late on Wednesday night, the boy's father, Johnny Dorscht, spoke out about the incident. 

He also identified his son, the 13-year-old boy in the video who was restrained and almost shot by the off-duty LAPD cop, as Christian Dorscht. 

'I'm pretty p***ed off about what happened,' he told the Orange County Weekly.

'You could talk to anybody, my son has very good manners. He does good in school and isn't disrespectful or anything like that.

'We're going to find legal representation and be suing. This is B.S. Even the cops, when they got there, they had all the kids down. They didn't even go after the guy.'

Johnny Dorscht also shared pictures with DailyMail.com showing the bruises his son suffered. 

They showed he had a mark above his eyebrow, as well as a series of small bruises along his shoulder and neck.

Christian's mom, Alma Jimenez, also stepped forward on Wednesday night - having earlier refused to identify herself or her son.

Jimenez spoke to the protesters in Anaheim.

'I just want to say how disgusted I am by that individual for the negligence he committed with my son,' she was heard saying in a video posted to her Facebook page. 

A local newspaper reporter claimed this vandalism was on the front of the cop seen in the video's house. However, that claim was denied by Anaheim Police

'My son is alive today, but if he would have not fought for his life along with those other children, he would be in a morgue right now.

'You almost killed my child. Stop shooting our kids. This is my son. He is 13 years old. He was not armed.

'He (the officer) was, he pulled out, he reached for his weapon, he intended to use it.'

Amid the protest - which took place about two blocks from Disneyland - Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait said there will be a 'thorough, impartial' investigation into the incident.

'Like many in the community, I've seen the video and I'm very concerned about what it shows,' he said, according to ABC7.

'Anaheim is committed to a full and impartial investigation. Our city will move forward without delay.' 

In the video that sparked the protest, a large group of about 20 teens is seen in the video, as well as the off-duty cop.

During the clip, which lasts about nine minutes, Christian is heard saying that the cop was upset at a girl for walking on his lawn. A video from the incident alleges the cop called the young girl a 'c***t'.

When he then confronted the cop, the altercation got underway, according to the video.

The officer was seen holding the boy around the neck and shoulders in what appeared to be an attempt to restrain him. 

'I'm only 13,' Christian is heard saying at one point, as several people in the group of teens are heard saying: 'Let him go'.

At one point, an elderly man with a beard and a crutch is heard saying: 'Hey Kevin.' Later in the video he identified himself as the cop's father while calling 911. 

The off-duty cop, who has not been named, was seen with his hands around the top of the boy's jumper, before he tried to drag him away from the rest of the group

Later in the video, he began dragging the boy towards his property - at one point attempting to pull him across the top of a hedge.

Christian is then heard saying: 'He tried to hit me in my nuts. That’s like a little p***y move, punch a kid in the nuts.'

The cop then replies: 'Because you’ve been resisting this whole time.'

But the boy then fires back, saying he wasn't resisting and tries to offer up an explanation.

'No, I wasn’t. You tackled me first. I didn’t do anything to hurt you,' he said.

'All I said was, "Respect the girl," because you said, "Get out of my property".'

The cop then is heard claiming the 13-year-old said he was going to shoot him, however the teen quickly responds: 'I didn’t say that. Why you lying? I said, "I’m going to sue you".'

Moments later in the clip, another boy charges the off-duty cop and knocks him over in an attempt to free his friend.

But the cop does not let go, and instead reaches into his waistband and pulls out his weapon. 

Seconds later, a shot rings out and the group of teens quickly run away from the house.

They then watch on from a safe distance as the off-duty cop continues to hold down Christian he pulled across the hedge.

The 13-year-old can then be heard saying, 'You shot me, you put a gun to my face,' as the off-duty cop tells the elderly man nearby to call the police.

Later in the video police arrived and arrested the Christian, as well as a 15-year-old.

The officer was not arrested. 

Christian has since been released, along with the 15-year-old who was also arrested.

Anaheim Police released a statement about the incident on Tuesday.

'Two juveniles have been arrested following a physical confrontation during which an off-duty LAPD officer discharged his firearm,' it read. 

'Nobody was struck by the gunfire and the Anaheim Police Department Homicide Detail is investigating.

'Officers were called to the area... regarding a physical altercation between a male adult and several male juveniles. While officers were responding, additional information was received the adult was an off-duty LAPD officer, he had discharged his firearm, and was detaining at least one of the juveniles.'

The video, which had been viewed more than 25,000 times, has since been removed from YouTube.

Christian's family started a fundraising page to raise money to cover their legal costs. 

His father said any money raised that goes above the legal costs will be donated to charity. 

Police are expected to provide an update on Thursday during a press conference.
