There's something really fishy about this.
Scientists in Spain have found that fish in local estuaries are acquiring female features, thanks to pollutants from birth control pills, pesticides and other everyday chemicals that seep into the water.
Researchers at the University of Basque Country in Spain have found more and more female fish in estuaries in the northern region of the country, as well as male fish with female traits, like testicles filled with eggs.
This bizarre phenomenon occurs when the fish are exposed to these endocrine-disrupting chemicals found in common household items, UPI reports . These chemicals act like the female sex hormone estrogen, causing male fish to develop female characteristics.
Miren P. Cajaraville, who spearheaded the university's research efforts, said the study of thick-lipped grey mullet fish in six zones revealed very concrete answers.
"We have confirmed the correlation existing between the presence of the pollutants and the feminization phenomenon," she told the news agency.

@Roots aka TJ What De... man you have no idea its worst than you think. FDA is approving for GM (genetically engineer) salmon which is splice with heel DNA known as pout. Salmon grow in warm water unlike the GM aka Frankenfish salmon would be able to grow in any temperature that take up to 15 to 18 months, While real salmon takes up to 5 years to adult hood.
