A number of organisations have partnered to launch an advertising campaign urging Jamaicans to love and accept their gay relatives.
The campaign dubbed ‘Unconditional Love’ was launched today and features former Miss Jamaica World and Miss Jamaica Universe Christine Straw, and her brother Matthew Straw.
In the ad, Christine declares her unending love for Matthew, who is gay, while calling for Jamaicans to love their family members and friends who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered.
UNAIDS Representative in Jamaica, Dr. Pierre Somse, insists Jamaica must keep pace with the rest of the world and get rid of anything that might retard the gains made in reducing the spread of HIV over the years.
According to him, homophobia is a major stumbling block to effective HIV interventions.
Dr. Somse said the entire population is at risk if it does not guarantee the human rights of homosexuals.

you keepmyour commandments and leave the rest of the world to their lives and faith.
your weak ass stunts and spins wont drive fear in us to speak out so quit it. we loud and proud so you can stay in your closet the act is wrong and what they are attempting to do is also. and will never be accepted
racism is still with us there is supting for you to fight for hows that you may make a better argument with that
What I can not understand about some people is this, they are behaving as if being gay is something new. Even gay animal exist and yet noone is saying kill those animals for being gay. Look at how many other commandments people have broken and the majority of citizens are not saying kill those who break those laws. Once again, I'm not condoning gayness; I'm only asking why do so many folks wish for gay people to be killed?
I read about four people in Jamaica being decapitated and I haven't seen any comment where anyone said, those who did the beheading should be killed. A sin is a sin is a sin; so if one can asked for sinners to be killed for breaking one commandment, why not ask for them to be killed for breaking any other?
Bible didn't exist to teach us that gayness is wrong, would so many so-called religious Jamaicans be against it? Most Jamaicans are against gayness because it's an abomination and we only know this because it is written in the Bible. It is also written in the Bible for man not to sleep with his relatives because this too is an abomination unto God, yet noone is saying kill those who practice this act. Again I feel that the people who cry the loudest against this gay thing, are the very ones who may also be gay and are afraid of coming out of the closet. So to look good, they shout the loudest and have the worst things to say about gay. "Those without sin, cast the first stone."
