Almost 10 years after his infamous domestic violence assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna, singer Chris Brown is finally telling his side of the story.
In his documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life, Brown details his former love affair with Rihanna and his version of went down that fateful night after Clive Davis’ Grammy party.
“I just think we were like the perfect and bad combination,” Brown said of their relationship at the time.
The singer says he was 15 when he first met Rihanna at a Z100 show in New York City. Intrigued by her beauty and exotic, island accent, Brown got acquainted with Rihanna and the two later formed a friendship which would blossomed into a relationship after several months.
In the course of their relationship things got quite physical between them, Brown says, after he confessed to having sex with another woman prior to the relationship.
“My trust totally was lost with her. She hated me. After that I tried everything. She didn’t care, she just didn’t trust me after that. From there, it just went down hill because it will be fights. It will be verbal fights, physical fights as well, mutual sides,” he said. “This is the first I get to say anything and like I said, I still love Rihanna but I’m just gonna to be honest. We would fight each other. She would hit me and I would hit her. It never was okay.”
The documentary also features testimonies from celebrities including Terrence J, DJ Khaled, and Mike Tyson that attest to the chemistry and tension between the two superstars and what it’s like to be young, famous and in love.

Fans were infuriated when Chris Brown posted a comment on his former girlfriend Rihanna's Instagram page on Monday.
The Look At Me Now singer, who assaulted Rihanna back in 2009, posted a an icon of a pair of eyes after she shared an image of the skimpy costume she wore to the Crop Over Festival in her native Barbados that same day.
The 28-year-old rapper seemed impressed with the revealing bejeweled bikini she wore, along with matching garters and outrageous plumed wings for the celebration.

However fans were outraged that he would comment, posting: 'Can we all give a collective "BOIII WTF U THINKIN" to Chris Brown's comment on Rihanna's Insta????'

Another fan called him out by saying, '@chrisbrownofficial is now even MORE disgusting.'

Another added: 'Keep your eyes and your hands to yourself sir.'

Comments: The controversial singer's comment prompted a backlash

He was previously placed on probation after he attacked the Umbrella star, his then-girlfriend, before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Rihanna took a restraining order out against the singer after he was charged with assault after hitting her at a pre-show party.

The vicious attack, which led to her being hospitalised, led to him receiving five years of probation.

Speaking about the distressing incident, Rihanna later told Vanity Fair: 'I just never understood that, like how the victim gets punished over and over. 

'It’s in the past, and I don’t want to say "Get over it," because it’s a very serious thing that is still relevant; it’s still real.

'A lot of women, a lot of young girls, are still going through it. A lot of young boys too. It’s not a subject to sweep under the rug, so I can’t just dismiss it like it wasn’t anything, or I don’t take it seriously.

Chris said in his 2017 documentary about the incident: 'I felt like a f***ing monster. I was thinking about suicide and everything else. I wasn’t sleeping, I wasn’t eating. I just was getting high.'

In 2012 Chris and Rihanna reconciled and dated briefly before splitting again the following year.
