Motorcycle rider hit by plane in Guyana dies

A man on a motorcycle who collided with a plane as it was landing on a rural airstrip in the South American country of Guyana has died.

Health Minister Leslie Ramsammy said yesterday that 46-year-old farmer Winston Francis had lost his left arm and received severe injuries to the head and face.

Francis was riding along a road that intersects the rural airstrip when the collision occurred late Wednesday.

Authorities urged residents to take extra precautions while on the road as government officials met to talk about improving safety at airstrips in remote jungle communities.

OK your school thought you Guyana is not part of the Caribbean and our school say it is.
Maybe your government can clarify this and make it clear to the other countries.

@apparently some people also miss English class where grammar is concern. Those big words might get some people but take out your ATLAS and tell me where u see that Guyana is culturally, historically, geographically part or Caribbean

Guyana was a former colony of the Dutch and (for over 200 years) of the British. It is the only state of the Commonwealth of Nations on mainland South America, and it is also a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which has its secretariat headquarters in Guyana's capital, Georgetown. Guyana is one of the very few Caribbean nations that is not an island. Guyana achieved independence from the United Kingdom on 26 May 1966, and became a Republic on 23 February 1970.

@kiana I notice that u did not pay full attention in your social studies classes. If so you would have know that Guyana is not part of the caribbean. For the Caribbean is made up of islands and an island is a body of land surrounded by water. Guyana is located in the continent of south America making Guyana a country. We sometimes do slip and say we are Caribbean due to the country being part of the common wealth.
