Motorcycle rider hit by plane in Guyana dies

A man on a motorcycle who collided with a plane as it was landing on a rural airstrip in the South American country of Guyana has died.

Health Minister Leslie Ramsammy said yesterday that 46-year-old farmer Winston Francis had lost his left arm and received severe injuries to the head and face.

Francis was riding along a road that intersects the rural airstrip when the collision occurred late Wednesday.

Authorities urged residents to take extra precautions while on the road as government officials met to talk about improving safety at airstrips in remote jungle communities.

Come on. I'm sorry to hear of his passing but he had to have seen and heard this plane. I feel he was trying to out run the plane thinking he could beat it. My condolences to the family

Dwayne I am the last person on these blogs to be a follower. Based on what I learn in school kiana is correct.
This site is call Caribbean fever and I am positive they include Guyana. These things don't happen by being misinformed.
Maybe they need to put up a blog to get people views including Guyanse people.

@Dwayne - its cool to disagree buy you don't have to malicious to get your point across. As previously stated Guyana has more in common culturally with the island Caribbean countries due to colonization, language, agricultural production. Think what you want "Mr Prime Minister of GT" but most Guyanese KNOW their place in the world as do see this site is called CARIBBEAN FEVER, right?

In 1965 what was the. Called British Guiana now proudly called GUYANA where I born, grow and lived for 16 years of my life. Guyana signed an agreement at Dickenson Bay, Antigua, to set up Caribbean free trade association.  Guyana is consider part of the Caribbean Community ( Caricom) Secretariat. Which provides dynamic leadership and service in partnership with community institutions and groups. Towards the attainment of a viable, internationally competitive and sustainable community, with improved quality of life for all.
