Mother in Guyana dropped NEW BORN BABY in latrine pit. {This is crazy}

The case of the baby born on April 2, last, —Good Friday—and who was also slated to die on that same day after his mother delivered him and dropped him into a latrine pit, has taken another interesting turn.
Neighbours of the young woman rescued the baby and rushed him to the Georgetown Public Hospital where doctors managed to save his life.
The baby boy was transferred to post-natal care and the matter was referred to the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security where it fell under the jurisdiction of the Child Protection Agency.
On Tuesday the child was released to the relatives of the baby’s mother so that the baby may receive care from family rather than be sent to a home for children. The age of the child was a determining factor.
The young mother was subsequently admitted to counseling.
An official stated that the state’s policy is not to separate a child from its family unless the circumstances are truly dire. In this case the child is under the supervision of the young woman’s family.
The mother is allowed to feed the child and be around him but she needs to be supervised by her family. She is also required to continue the counseling that she is currently undergoing. Meanwhile, the Child Protection Agency will continue to monitor the situation carefully since the child remains under the care of the state.
One friend of the baby’s mother said that it was an accident; that the woman never tried to harm the child. A relative also told this newspaper that the woman is married and that her husband who resides in Barbados is oblivious that his wife was pregnant. “He does not know that his wife was pregnant much less that she has given birth.”
The police had launched an investigation into the matter but it is unclear at the moment what the outcome of that investigation is.

No remorse for this mother, she needs to be put away for the rest of her life. What has our world and country come to? It's a shame.

I know I am only a father and can't understand the physical and emotional bond a mother and child have, but I can never see myself ever doing that to my 2yr old midget. I hope she recieves a lot of therapy. And let it be a very long time before she is given back full custody and left alone with the baby.

this is nothing new- has been happening for years. As a kid I heard and knew of folks who did this. At the end of the day an account has to be given to the high power for this- wrong on soooo many levels

I cannot stress this enough...PARENTS are made to PROTECT our young (even when they grow old and move on) not to hurt and/or destroy. Yes we as parents have to punish our children when the need arise but abusing and/or trying to murder them after you have gone through nine+ months of body changes, the pain of child birth and the sacrifices made. Why would anyone take such an inhuman action? I will love to see that mother put in a Latrine (outdoor toilet) and buried alive.
