Brandon Antoine (pictured), 46, died of COVID-19 despite his mothers urges for him to get vaccinated
A Louisiana mother held a vaccine drive at the funeral of her son who died of COVID-19 after refusing to get vaccinated.
Brandon Antoine passed away from the virus aged 46 in Baton Rouge on June 9.
His mother, Betty Antoine, begged him to get the vaccine before he contracted the virus, though he refused.
Now she is hoping other families do not go through the same tragedy, and used her son's funeral as an opportunity to get others in her community vaccinated.
'I begged him, I said, 'You need to take the vaccine, Brandon.' 'Oh, no, mom, I'm not going to take it. And you better not take the vaccine either,'' Antoine told CBS News.
'His doctor wanted him to take the vaccine. He told her no,' she continued.
She said her son had underlying heart and lung issues that gave him an increased risk of complications from the virus
And I said, right then I'm going to ask his friends and everybody to take that vaccine in honor of him.'
She gave attendees at Brandon's funeral the opportunity to get vaccinated, hoping that others could learn from her son's mistake.

Of the attendees, 13 decided to get vaccinated.
'I just wanted them to see Brandon's ashes. I wanted them to know, look, Brandon is dead because he did not take the vaccine,' she continued.
Louisiana is among the states with the lowest vaccination rates in the country, and is currently dealing with a massive COVID-19 surge.
Only 40 percent of residents of the state have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and only 36 percent are fully vaccinated.
Mississippi is the only state with a lower vaccination rate at 38 percent.
Coronavirus cases in the state are also trending in the wrong direction, rising 224 percent in the past two weeks from 619 per day on July 7 to 2,006 per day on July 21.
Hospitalizations are also at their highest since February, with 844 people currently in the hospital with the virus.
Around 70 percent of active cases in the state are of the Delta variant, a highly contagious strain that originated in India.
Health officials in the state are urging residents to get the shots to protect themselves from the virus.
Notable Republican politicians are joining the effort as well.
Rep Steve Scalise, one of the most prominent Republicans in Congress who represents Louisiana's 1st district, received the first shot of his COVID-19 vaccine earlier this week.
'Especially with the Delta variant becoming a lot more aggressive and seeing another spike, it was a good time to do it,' Scalise told NOLA.com.
'When you talk to people who run hospitals, in New Orleans or other states, 90 percent of people in hospital with delta variant have not been vaccinated. That's another signal the vaccine works.'
Antoine is hoping that other families will not suffer the same situation that hers did, and used her son's funeral as a vaccination drive
Roe said he was aware of Rep Scalise, but denied that the vaccines are proven effective, and said his opinion is unchanged.
Medical professionals are advising Louisianan's to get the shots as well, as a vast majority of people being admitted into the hospital with the virus are unvaccinated.
'I want to be clear after seeing what I've seen the past two weeks. We only have two choices: we are either going to get vaccinated and end the pandemic. Or we are going to accept death.' said Dr Catherine O'Neal, chief medical officer at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, during a press conference Friday per a report from The Advocate.
'A lot of it, this surge, and another surge, and possibly another variant.'
Across the country, cases are spiking as well.
Over the past two weeks, cases have nearly tripled, growing from 16,181 average new cases on July 8 to 45,343 on July 22 - a 180 percent increase.

Tyrone, we both have very different views on the matter of vaccination. I do however agree with you that the right herbs and eating healthy are very important. Again, I will reiterate that as a front-line healthcare worker, I have seen vaccines save lives. At any rate, we can agree to disagree. Nicole there is a book that I have written by doctors that state Alzheimer's and other disabling diseases are caused by vaccines. There was a study done in Australia with infants that died of SiDS and there found that all the infants that died had gotten vaccines. Hey, you are free to believe what you want. I didn't hear you state that these poisons are in the vaccines such as embalming fluid, cow pus, mercury and others. Mercury is one of the most deadliest metals on earth, why in the world would they put these poisons in a person's body? Once again, it's not a wise thing to put a poison in the body to build an immune against a virus or bacteria. All these viruses are man made in a lab. Because you're a healthcare professional doesn't mean you've researched anything. What you're regurgitating is what you've been told and taught. When a person like Bill Gates makes a speech telling people that the CO2 has to be brought down to a level of 0 he was in fact telling us they will decide who lives or who dies. This mofo had this nice formula on a board and told people with vaccines, reproduction methods (abortions etc) they will bring the CO2 level down. In plain english, we breath in Oxygen exhale Carbon Dioxide, the plant in turn takes our CO2 and gives us Oxygen equal trade, but if you bring the CO2 level to zero that would mean people will have to die. They've been telling us the earth is over populated for years. A few years ago, Mr. Bill Gates vaccinated thousands of girls in India which led to their death or serious injuries, He was deemed a criminal in India and was wanted for crimes. They don't tell us that in the news media. You think big pharma will tell you vaccines are harmful? Did you know that certain vaccines are designated for poor neighborhoods while others are sent to upscale areas? You think Dr. Bob who you work for is gonna tell you the trade secret? You're a cog in the wheel. The problem with our people we think the playing field is level, well guess what, it ain't. Margaret Sanger who was the person who started planned parenthood set up abortion clinics in poor neighborhoods. She was a Eugenicist who believed black people are like weeds and should be rooted up. Bill Gates' father was also a Eugenicist and his son. These people had a problem and hated black people and felt they should be killed. The drug dealer on the corner sells drugs and destroys families. The doctors pushing drugs are just as bad if not worst pushing pharma products and vaccines. As a health professional you would say doing drugs (heroine, coke, crack etc etc) is bad. But you would recommend medicine that has side effects!!!!! Again, you're a cog in the wheel doing your part. I've had the privilege of attending meetings and the stuff they speak on is dreadful and down right disgusting, but you have to be like a fly on the wall acting as if you're not really paying attention to what's being said so you can understand the true mindset of these evil ones. What I've noticed in my lifetime is that the biggest push back comes from our people who loves this beast system and will die to protect it. They feel as if this system is also for them. Well it's not....it's to destroy the black family on all levels. We live in a world where good is bad and bad is good. Since when did the white man ever felt that he needs to save us. After all they've done to us now he wants to come in and bring his vaccine to save us! If other doctors who've studied the this is telling us it's harmful why then are we listening to CNN, MSNBC and the other mainstream news. All news that we listen to comes from 2 sources, Reuters and Associated Press. How is it that all news outlets are saying the same thing and if a person has a different viewpoint, they're crazy, or a conspiracy theorist or they're stupid. One should ask where is the other side of the spectrum. I'm no doctor, but I know how to educate myself by learning the functions of the body and with the help of God and herbs how to heal it.
Whether one gets the vaccine is a personal choice. Tyrone, your post however is full of inaccuracies that are based on many myths that need to be dispelled. As a healthcare professional, I will address a few. Research has not proved that vaccines cause autism. If that were true, more persons would have autism. This has been studied and has not been proven. It does not cause Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) either. The number of SIDS cases have declined enormously since the American Academy of Pediatrics and other International Pediatric Organizations advised against having babies lie on their abdomen. It is encouraged that babies lie on their backs instead. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder; highly unlikely that it is caused by vaccines. Alzheimer’s Disease is associated with a buildup of abnormal protein in the brain leading to plaque formation. There is no nexus between Alzheimer’s Disease and vaccines.
@sheldine Forde........The gov't is forcing people to get a vaccine going door to door. They're in talks right now about vaccinating children under 12. They're implementing rules where to work you need to vaccinated or take a test every week. Every news outlet is talking about vaccines every minute. Hide your head in the sand and don't prepare for what is about to come.
Lol to all those who believes in the vaccine go on and take it and be happy, dont tell the rest of us to take it, when the last time you people cared about any one, when the last time you help someone pay for their health benefits or copay, how come you people not going against thr sell of cigarettes where in the box it says it cause cancer, how come you people are not pushing for free health care instead of telling the rest of us to take that damn vaccine, you are afraid to die go on and take it, if you feel others are not safe dont make contract with them, as for me i dont hang with people, i do put on a mask and let any one know i dont believe in the vaccine, i do not take it so they dont come around me
