Brazil’s top bottoms were front and center in Sao Paulo this week in the annual Miss Bumbum Pageant. The cheeky contest, now in its sixth year, awards top honors to the woman with the top bottom.
Activists said it represents a new low for the country.

Erika Canela of Bahia won the title Wednesday night, which includes about $14,900 in prize money and a lucrative modeling contract.

The 24-year-old is the first black woman winner. She told the Brazilian website EGO she was very happy to “show the Brazilian beauty.”

“I was very surprised,” Canela said, in a quote translated by the Daily Star. “I am very happy and grateful to my mother, who voted for several mornings.”

Canela’s prize-winning posterior bested a field of 26 other first-class fannies ― one representing each state of Brazil. After a public vote, 15 women were chosen for the keister contest finals.

But there were a few bumps on the road to gluteus glory.
Pageant founder Cacau Oliver said the cheeky pic was a dramatization of the last meeting of the women before the grand finale. Oliver told Newslink reporter Matt Roper: “It reminded me of the Last Supper. It was where Jesus was betrayed by Judas, because of jealousy, and, like it or not, the woman with the most votes is also the target of jealousy.
“She is at the center, and the other girls will want to crucify her because she got more votes than them.”
Many Brazilian Catholics were outraged. The Rev. Clesio Vieira, a priest from Rio de Janeiro, said the photo represented “the vulgarization of the sacred and is deeply disrespectful.”

Although Miss Bumbum is advertised as a celebration of Brazilian beauty, some advocates said it’s a sign the county is hitting rock bottom.
Activist Karen Vasquez said the contest perpetuates an ugly stereotype of Brazil as a country where women flaunt their bodies, according to Fox News Latino, which translated comments she made to the Brazilian website EFE.

“We are not against freedom, and women should express themselves as they want, even naked,” Vasquez said. “But when that freedom becomes a prison of advertising, the meaning of things changes, and the butts of Brazilian women remain slaves of that advertising god.”

Miss Bumbum contestants have recreated the painting The Last Supper
They are portrayed as Christ and his disciples wearing orange bikinis
The woman voted as having the 'sexiest' bottom is given the role of Jesus
But the picture has outrage and offended many in deeply Catholic Brazil
Brazil's Miss Bumbum beauty pageant has sparked anger after bikini-clad contestants posed for a recreation of the iconic religious painting The Last Supper - with the woman with the 'sexiest' bottom playing Jesus.
In the photo, eight hopefuls in the popular 'rear of the year' contest are portrayed as Christ and his disciples on the night before his crucifixion in a scene that has offended many in the deeply Catholic country.
Last night religious leaders branded the remake of the Da Vinci masterpiece 'deeply disrespectful' while even Brazil's religious intolerance commission waded in to the debate as anger over the picture grew.

And even the women competing for the 'best bottom' title last night expressed dismay at being made to pose for the controversial scene, with one claiming she had 'asked forgiveness from God for a great sin'.
Now in its sixth year, Miss Bumbum is one of Brazil's most hotly-disputed beauty contests with winners becoming overnight celebrities and often going on to earn millions and modelling contracts and endorsements.
After a public vote, the 27 contestants, each representing a Brazilian state, are whittled down to 15 who then battle it out in a live final on November 9.
Daiana Fegueredo, representing the state of Ceara, was chosen to play Jesus in the photo as her bottom received the most number of phone votes, making her the frontrunner in the race for the coveted title.
The contestants were recreating the painting made famous by Leonardo Da Vinci, which depicts Christ surrounded by his disciples before the crucifixion
But she said she now regrets agreeing to taking part: 'I did the photo because of my contract. But I didn't like it and I wasn't happy about it. You can't play around with the word of God.
'I completely understand people being angry about it, because even I'm angry and I'm in it. For me it is blasphemy.
'I feel really bad deep inside of me. I'm a practising Catholic. Since I did the photo my heart is tight inside my chest, I can't sleep and I don't stop thinking about it. I've already asked forgiveness from God, and I ask forgiveness from everyone else. We went too far. We were part of a great sin.'

Another contestant, Danny Morais, representing the state of Santa Catarina, said that at first she didn't understand what they were being asked to do.
She said: 'Afterwards I was filled with remorse. God knows my heart and knows I wasn't being bad. I think we can be controversial in other ways, but not using God's name, not using a biblical story.'
Father Clesio Vieira, from the Volta Redonda diocese of Rio de Janeiro, said the photo has caused 'great offence' to Catholics.
He said: 'Everyone's talking about it. It has broken the boundaries of ethics and respect, all in the name of money. This isn't creativity, it's the vulgarisation of the sacred and is deeply disrespectful.'
While assistant bishop of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Augusto Dias Duarte, also criticised the photos, saying he was against any images showing women's bottoms, 'whatever the setting'.

He added: 'Women need to be valued for their role as a wife, mother, professional, and for her intellectual and cultural qualities.'
In a statement, Babalawo Ivanir dos Santos, from Brazil's Commission to Combat Religious Intolerance, said that the picture was evidence 'that intolerance is not just confined to African religions.'
But the founder of the Miss Bumbum competition, Cacau Oliver, claimed the image was 'not offensive to the church' and never meant to shock anyone.
He said: 'It was the last meeting of the women before the grand final. It reminded me of the Last Supper. It was where Jesus was betrayed by Judas, because of jealousy, and like it or not the woman with the most votes is also the target of jealousy.
'She is at the centre, and the other girls will want to crucify her because she got more votes than them.'
22-year old Indianara Carvalho was recently crowned Miss Bum Bum Brazil 2014. Not satisfied with simply having the best a** in the country, Carvalho decided to celebrate by becoming a virgin again.
The sexpot from Santa Catarina underwent hymenoplasty, surgery to restore her her hymen.
"I wanted to undergo surgery to reconstruct my virginity before I have new photographs done," she said, according to the New York Daily News. "I wouldn't feel good about appearing naked if I wasn't exactly as I came into the world if you know what I mean. I think I also want to give a bit of respect and new concept to the Miss Bumbum title by being a virgin."
Carvalho plans to abstain from sex until she finds "someone special" to take her virginity... again.
For some reason I think this might become a trend.
I don't believe that came from doing 1000 squats a day. I've been going to the gym for decades and I've never seen a girl get a big butt from doing squats. She may be able to firm it up and make some improvement, but nothing extreme. I'm not saying that she doesn't squat, but I bet she also had some work done too, just like some of these fitness women on youtube who've had surgery and try to make you think they're all natural and all they do is butt exercises.

A thousand squats, damn, that's alot, but alot of women here want butt implants and end up dying, at least these some of the women go to the gym and work at it.
