Massive 10-foot alligator spotted stalking two cranes as horrified golfers look on at a course in Florida

A huge 10-foot alligator has been spotted trying to get a birdie on the golf course. 

Video showing the mammoth reptile stalking two sandhill cranes at the ChampionsGate golf course near Orlando, Florida, on Friday afternoon, was shared online over the weekend.

The gator was seen following closely behind the birds just moments after it emerged from a marsh just off to the side of the fairway. 

Bill Pruitt was getting ready to chip on when he spotted the gator and started.

'It frightened me,' Pruitt told the Tampa Bay Times.  'It was at least 10 feet. I'm 6-2, and he was twice the size of me.' 

Pruitt's footage shows the cranes clearly aware of the large animal slowly pursuing them. 

The birds increased their pace at different points in the clip, while flapping their feathers frantically at others.

At the end of the video, the birds made their way to slightly higher ground on the green, while the gator dropped to its stomach - seemingly laying in wait.
