The Bronx man shown in surveillance video beating a foreign tourist to death early Friday in the Bronx has surrendered to police.
Police are not identifying the man who fatally punched 37-year-old Swiss tourist Oliver D’Orio outside a bodega in the normally safe Fordham area of the city’s northernmost borough.
D’Orio made the mistake of asking a group of men inside the Guerrero Bodega to buy him beer, sources told the New York Daily News, that’s when his problems began.

Security video shown on WNBC first shows D’Orio (in a blue polo shirt) talking to a group of men, including a man with an afro later shown punching him, inside the store.
The group appears to get into a disagreement with D’Orio and everyone heads outside.
D’Orio is seen walking away and goes off camera before returning with his shirt off and appearing to confront the man with the afro outside the store.
He turns his head to the side and the man suck punches him in the face.
The Swiss national staggers backwards before falling onto the sidewalk and hitting his head.
He went into cardiac arrest at the scene and was taken to a local hospital where he died, said police.

A $2,000 reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest of D’Orio’s killer, but the suspect reportedly turned himself in Sunday to the 48 precinct before the neighbourhood turned on him.
D’Orio was in New York to visit his girlfriend. He had posted many pictures of himself in the city to his Facebook page in the hours before he died.
Residents of the neighbourhood, which surrounds the Bronx campus of Fordham University, told NY1 the crime sent shockwaves through the normally quiet enclave.
‘It's sad that he was on vacation and that had to happen, and it's also sad for the Bronx and the people that live here that they get that bad rep,’ said one person. ‘People might not want to come here, but it's a nice place to come, to live, to visit.’
Down for the count: D'Orio staggers backwards after being hit, falls on the ground and bashes his head into the pavement - he would die from his injuries

Hours before his death: D'Orio posted this picture to his Facebook only a few hours before he was pronounced dead
Another person insisted the area is ‘very safe. Very safe’ and said that ‘everybody's nice. I don't know what happened.’
A witness named only as Frankie suggested to the Daily News that D’Orio was ‘being obnoxious [and] bugging people for a drink.
‘It was some b------t argument, back and forth.’
D’Orio had been in the city for 10 days and was to return home to Europe this week.
