A 49 year old Washington DC man was shot once in the head at point blank range, after shaking hands with a teen gang member, MTO News has learned.
Marcus Covington, 49, of Southwest D.C., died Wednesday from injuries in Tuesday’s shooting. He was shot Tuesday afternoon on the Anacostia Metro station platform, and police are looking for the suspect they believe was involved in the deadly shooting.
The entire shooting was caught on camera, and it is frightening. In the video the two males seem to be friendly. At one point Marcus reaches over and "daps up" the teen.
But the teen had other plans it seems. When Marcus let down his guard, the teen pulled a gun and shot him multiple times in the head.
The shooting happened around 1:35 p.m. D.C. and Metro Transit Police officers responded quickly to the incident which occurred on the platform inside the Anacostia Metro station. There, they found Covington with gunshot wounds.
Acting Chief Robert Contee said Tuesday that the victim had been in a brief conversation with the suspect before he was shot by him at point blank range. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for life threatening injuries where he eventually died.
