Joel Chin, a member of the legendary VP Records family, was shot and killed last night in Jamaica

Reportedly, Chin was surrounded by gunmen as he exited his vehicle in front of his home and shot several times by the men. He was later taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Two years ago, Joel returned to Jamaica; opting to focus more on the local music scene & developing young talent within the Jamaican music industry. During the last two years, Joel wrote hit singles for the aforementioned Etana as well as the "Energy God," Elephant Man and many other artistes.

RIP Joel Chin. He was an OFFICIAL friend and an all around great guy! For everyone who doesnt know, Joel did the music score for the movie "Shottas" along with Various other musical ventures. My brother introduced me to him about 10 years ago at HCF recording Studios, in Freeport L.I.. He was always a nice, humble guy who would go out of his way to look out for the next man/ woman. You will be sorely missed BIG DOG. My condolences go out to the entire Chin family and the VP records crew. Whoever is responsible for this will get whats coming to them.
