On Monday, TRN shared with you some of the Black actors and directors who made the cut for this year’s Golden Globes and the disappointment over what fans felt were some pretty obvious snubs like “Get Out” creator Jordan Peele being left out of the director’s category.
Peele wasn’t the only snub that’s left fans fuming. Hello Beautiful has a story about some of the ‘day after’ global fallout after “Girls Trip” break out star Tiffany Haddish didn’t receive a nod in any of the nearly 30 categories honoring motion pictures and TV.
“Girls Trip” co-star Jada Pinkett Smith was one of the first to cry foul when Haddish was not recognized…
I have so much to say on why @TiffanyHaddish was not nominated for a Globe... but I won't
Actually I will... here we go...
Actually I will... here we go...
I'm not upset about @TiffanyHaddish or @GirlsTripMovie not getting a nom... I'm discouraged about the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press/@goldenglobes wouldn't even WATCH the movie.
Pinkett Smith went on to say that “”Girls Trip” was one of the most successful films this summer & Tiff was hands down the funniest person on screen in 2017“, but yet she says that no one from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association(HFPA) would even screen the film for Golden Globe contention. Pinkett Smith asked “How could a nom happen & how much critical acclaim must a movie have to simply get a screening?”
Pinkett Smith’s ripple in the Golden Globes water started a wave of complaints from other fans of the movie on Twitter…
Girls Trip was one of the most successful films this summer & Tiff was hands down the funniest person on screen in 2017 and we couldn't get eyes on the film or a press conference. How could a nom happen & how much more critical acclaim must a movie have to simply get a screening?
89% on Rotten Tomatoes and you can't even get a screening? It's ridiculous.

Exactly. Shameful the way African American Female actresses are repeatedly marginalized. Thank you all for the 20+ years of awesomeness.

The black woman struggle of having to put in 200% just to get noticed, happens at every level of every industry. When will having to go above and beyond and even further beyond, just stop?
While Jada got a lot of people in her corner, there were some dissenting views as well…
Although I'm a fan of most of the actresses in the movie, sorry Jada, it was a horrible movie.
numbers, critics, and the box office said otherwise..

I'm all for diversity and stopping whitewashing everything in Hollywood. But.. It might have been successful financialy, but I personally found it cliche and using recycled jokes. And for me Tiff was the worst. Cringing... Just my opinion.
I also found it very cliché, however, I was able to form my opinion because I watched the movie. It should've been screened.
That last commenter hit the nail on the head as to the point Jada was trying to make…at least screen the film and make a decision as to whether its worthy for a nom. Pinkett Smith says the problem is using outdated systems and standards to determine which films and TV shows are worthy and she notes, “Hollywood has systems in place that must learn to expand its concepts of race, gender equality and inclusion in regard to its perceptions of art across the board”. In short, Pinkett Smith says a familiar and unspoken culprit still guides Hollywood awards, “I dare not invalidate all the many journalist and people from all walks of life who have supported this movie by defining the issue as simply… racism.”
This isn’t the first time Jada has spoken out against award shows. The last time was when husband Will Smith was snubbed by the Oscars for his movie “Concussion”. Jada says she’s basically seizing the moment to talk about the problems, perceptions and hopefully “recreate and regenerate old paradigms. It’s all about growth“.
Or is she just once again playing the race card when a movie she deemed worthy didn’t make the cut? What do you think?…Did “Girls Trip” get shut out because of racism or was the movie out of its league when it comes to the Golden Globes?
(POSTERS OPINION)
{YOU SHOULD BE USED TO IT BY NOW JADA AS IN PART THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE WHITE FEMINIST, SEXUAL HARASSMENT MOVEMENT AS THEY HAVE TO UPLIFT THEIR OWN OVER YOU AND ARE NOT ABOUT BLACK WOMEN, NEVER HAVE BEEN ALTHOUGH YA'LL DRANK THE KOOL-AIDE THINKING IT WOULD EMPOWER YOU ALSO-----THIS IS ABOUT AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT WHITE WOMEN, REPLACING WHITE MEN IN POWER NOT ONLY IN HOLLYWOOD BUT THE OVERALL SOCIETY}
