Home-schooled children being taught to fire GUNS: Father-of-four invents his own curriculum - covering Cryptocurrency, the Black Panthers, and how to handle an UZI

The home-schooled children who learn how to shoot guns

  • Derrick Grace, from Florida, teaches daughter Derrica, six, how to use guns
  • Father-of-four launched own curriculum after pulling son out of first grade
  • He says he teaches children about guns as violence happens anywhere in world

Six-year-old Derrica Grace has never been to school, but she can discuss Cryptocurrency, explain the history of the Blank Panther movement -  and show you how to shoot an Uzi machine gun.

It's all thanks to her father, Derrick Grace II – who has developed his own homeschooling curriculum after making the decision to pull his son out of first grade in 2016.

The father-of-four, from Tampa, Florida says that he's not a fan of the school system - and believes they 'dilute the mental progression' of children.

However, he has attracted controversy online after posting a series of videos online showing his daughter Derrica and son Derrick Grace III loading guns and reciting facts learned from their homeschool experience.

He continued: [My] curriculum includes guns because violence can take place anywhere in the world at any given moment.

'I'm a firm believer that if you have guns in your house, an educated mind is far greater than a wondering mind.'

Both Derrick Jr, nine, and Derrica, six, are fully-versed in loading magazines into Glocks, Mac 11s, and even an Uzi, fully extending their arms, and pulling the triggers.

Although the children usually practice with empty magazines, they have accompanied their father to shooting ranges to experience the recoil that comes with actually firing rounds.

Since taking his children's schooling into his own hands, Derrick has had an obvious effect on their development.

Derrica, who also enjoys gymnastics and has a 'lucky bullet' displayed in her room, said: 'If somebody was trying to kill me or if somebody is trying to kill my father, or my mom, or my sisters, anybody that's my family members, [I would] shoot them. If somebody broke into my house I'd shoot them.'

The siblings make use of their father's small arsenal of five guns, which at one time comprised 12 firearms and now includes a Glock 30 nicknamed 'Big Black' and an AK47 affectionately known to its owner as 'Brown Sugar'.

Derrick says it is important for his children to know how to use guns because 'violence can take place anywhere in the world' at 'any given moment'

Derrick says it is important for his children to know how to use guns because 'violence can take place anywhere in the world' at 'any given moment'

For Derrick, this is all an important part of his curriculum and bringing his children up in a way that shuns much of society's traditions and customs, so as to gain what he says is a more individualistic perspective on life.

He now spreads a message of self-sufficiency, and has built a business around his 'Unlearn and Relearn' curriculum, which is available for others to purchase, alongside a range of books containing guidance for adults.

'It's built on four elements: self-love, self-education, self-awareness, and self-reliance. I think those are key to live a mentally free and fruitful life,' he explained.

It's not just guns that are on the curriculum, however, as proved when asking Derrica to recite facts.

Questioned what intellectual property is, she responded confidently with: 'They can take your possessions, but they can't take your mind.'

Derrick is open about his troubled upbringing, where, despite coming from a family with a strong history in law enforcement, his day-to-day life involved breaking into houses and cars, and generally rebelling against a school system he felt neglected his particular talents.

'I was a terrible child,' he explained. 'At Christmas time we would cut Christmas lights just for the hell of it, to ruin people's holiday. I know I broke into at least 20 cars as a child… we would just go in these guy's houses and sit there and just go through their stuff.'

The entrepreneur - whose own father is a Secret Service retiree and whose grandfather worked as part of both a Sherriff's office and the Tampa PD, would continue to get into trouble into his teens - before starting work as a 911 dispatcher in 2008.

Despite this seemingly respectable job, he still found himself getting into trouble in his personal life, at one point being involved in a fight at a children's birthday party, where his assailants attempted to steal thousands of dollars worth of his jewellery.

Reflecting on the incident, Derrick recalled how he used the services available to him as a 911 dispatcher to track down the people from that day: 'I used some of my resources to find addresses, locations, names of almost everybody in that family.

'I found them eight months later. My AK47, that was my weapon of choice that day. But we ended up robbing them, taking everything he had, making him take some articles of clothing off. My goal that day was just to belittle him as best I could.

'I have evolved I am a different person now, but I wouldn't change anything. I think respect is a huge thing.'

He recalls how, during these troubled years, he would have bought a Bazooka rocket launcher if he could have afforded it: 'Just to say I got the biggest gun in Tampa.'

Referring to the incident at the children's party, he said: 'When there was like 30 of them, I definitely would have just used the Bazooka and just blew the whole parking lot up.'

However, Derrick says that this is all part of a past he has made real efforts to leave behind.

The father-of-four admits that he himself had a troubled upbringing while growing up

The father-of-four admits that he himself had a troubled upbringing while growing up

After losing his job as a 911 dispatcher in 2012, due to taking time off on a holiday and allegedly mishandling a 911 call, he decided to try to make a more positive impact and became a mentor to young people.

He has since spoken at numerous schools and juvenile corrections facilities throughout Hillsborough County in Tampa, and now shares his knowledge with a much larger demographic, travelling the US with Derrick III and Derrica, as well as his two one-year-old daughters.

Of course, homeschooling helps him to make his own schedule, which in turn allows him to bring his children on stage at events around the country and showcase the results of his own brand of education.

Homeschooled children in the United States account for a very small number of overall students, with just 3.3 percent of students between 5 and 17 being taught at home for the year 2015-16, according to data released by the Department of Education last September.

But while a 2012 report from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) showed parents were homeschooling mainly out of concern for their children's safety or to help them avoid temptations such as drugs, Derrick's decision to keep his children out of school comes from his personal philosophy of self-actualisation.

Derrick, who is also now an entrepreneur, says his biggest aim is to teach his children to be self-sufficient

Derrick, who is also now an entrepreneur, says his biggest aim is to teach his children to be self-sufficient

'My biggest aim is I want them to be self sufficient,' he explained. 'I think it's 100 percent unfair to raise our kids to be dependent on us until 16, and then force them to be dependent on strangers until they're 70.'

While distrust of 'the system' plays a big role in Derrick's overall project, safety is still a big concern for the Tampa native – which is why he chooses to focus so heavily on gun education and making sure his children can defend themselves.

As with so many cities in the modern United States, Tampa has experienced its own issues with guns and gun violence in recent times.

Just last year, the city's Seminole Heights neighbourhood was rocked by the indiscriminate shootings of four separate residents who were seemingly targeted for nothing more than being out in public.

It took 51 days before the first arrest was made in the case, during which time, residents were advised not to leave their houses alone.

However, videos of daughter Derrica (pictured) and her brother online have sparked criticism from other parents

Derrick recalls the events well: 'The guy was just shooting random people for two months. Killed four people. By just popping out at night. No reason, no personality traits in common, no nothing. Just literally coming to the area and shooting at random people.

'It's a jungle outside. These people are at a place where have no moral compass, they're killing kids and all, they just don't care.'

There's no doubt the Derrick has come a long way from his days spent breaking into houses and cars, but he has had trouble escaping his complicated past.

In 2014, he was involved in an altercation with the mother and brother of his current partner, in which he ended up shooting at them both from a parked car, hitting the mother in the hand, and the brother in the arm. A three-year-old Derrica was in the back seat of the car at the time.

Resolute that the pair had started the confrontation, he explained how he warned the brother that if he opened the car door, he would use deadly force.

Derrick says he thinks of schools as a 'day care centre', which is why he decided to take matters into his own hands

Derrick says he thinks of schools as a 'day care centre', which is why he decided to take matters into his own hands

'I told him, "Listen, if you open the door I am going to kill you",' he said

'I just leaned out to the left and started firing out the passenger door, but because [her mother] jumped in the way, she had her hand up, so I ended up shooting her. She did lose a finger but they were able to put it surgically back on… and I ended up shooting him in the arm.'

Following the shooting, Derrick says the brother threatened to use his own gun. He continued: 'I'm like, "Go get it, let's have a shootout." But for a split second I forgot Derrica was in the car.

'I'm like, "Damn, I can't have a shootout. She's in the car"… he may not be a good aim. He may shoot wild and if something happened to her then I would have to go back home, retrieve something even bigger, and try to come back and kill everybody that's related to you.'

Derrick was not charged for the incident, and credits his dad's affiliation with the police as one of the factors that helped him to avoid any repercussions for the shooting, as well as Florida's infamous 'stand your ground' law.

Derrick says it is a 'necessity' for parents to take control of their children's education

Derrick says it is a 'necessity' for parents to take control of their children's education

He continued: 'A lot of people get so desensitised by movies, television, and music and they think that shooting is just like shooting on Grand Theft Auto. Absolutely not. It's a whole different experience when you smell somebody's flesh burning when you see the blood.'

Looking back, he is disappointed in the incident and says he wouldn't want anyone to mimic his actions, but maintains that he 'wouldn't change anything,' even having his daughter in the car.

'Had she not… seen somebody shot, I don't think she would be a strong as she is,' he said. 'I am pro-peace. I love people. I don't bother people. So, when people bother me, I take it real personal because I don't bother them.'

Derrick literally wears this mantra of hardship leading to personal strength on his face, where, among the dozens of facial tattoos, is inked a large 'ABC' for 'Adversity Builds Character'.

It's a philosophy that seems to fuel much of the no-nonsense material in his Unlearn and Relearn curriculum.

Derrick said: 'For anybody that said [you shouldn't give kids guns] I would tell them just, look at America. I don't watch the news, but social media tells me enough of what's going on out here and it's just too many random acts of violence.

'People could literally be like, "I'm gonna get a Cuban sandwich" and never come back home because somebody was just like, "I'm gonna randomly shoot up this sandwich shop".

'People are doing the most weirdest things, they're shooting up Walmarts, they're shooting up movie theatres, eateries. You can literally just go grab a soda and get shot in America.'

Bombahdrop to start my beautiful sister i am sorry about your ordeal, yes the lord got your back so you made it, next i do not condone any one for publishing their private life, so no i do not glorify nor support him putting the child and weapons online it sets a wrong example, but at the end of the day thats his life, so only he knows the message that he is trying to send out, because in this country we still have child laws, so people have to think, but i do support the fact that he is showing his kids the future of America, whether people want to believe it or not this is where the country is heading, the only one who don believe it are those living in the box and so call hood, if you live in a white populated area you will see every white person are teaching their kids self defense especially the girls, this is why many of them are ready for law enforcement and many majority of them are getting those jobs when it comes to qualification, around my way they have groups that are known by the government and the NRa whether its state or federal they teach courses and also workshop for everything, gun training, conceal to carry, aw enforcement training and certification, and many other memberships, those classes are low as $20 to $50 thi is what they keep black people away from and negros buy in to that bullshit, they wont even research to see whats going on, and according to where you live black people will never be part of that world, so as much as i believe in Allah the lord i do embrace the ability that he gave me to use self defense as a man, dont use it to destroy others, but to protect your self and others

Had I had a gun I probley would have used it on everybody there because I remember feeling and asking someone where can I get a gun around here because I felt if I am ever in this position again, I'm capping someone, but just like that I just changed my mind and thank you God I never owned a gun because you are my rock, shield, salvation,

while I agree with you mr1stroke, I strongly agree with Raphael that is not a good look to post up pics of anyone much less a child posing with guns. There's nothing wrong with excercising self defense but advertising pictures of children guns sends out the wrong message. On another note I put my trust in God not man, I have Faith I the Lord and so I trust what he says, if you live by the Sword you shall surely die by it. I rememer back in my early twenties, living in Brooklyn, I let a young homeless young girl stay with me at my crib, I was a crackhead at the time long story short this girl took advantage of me, she even got like 6 girls try to kill me in my own crib, I had got into a scuffle with the fattest one, one stole my spare key that I took back from the chick I let stay with me, when they left my house and I noticed the spare missing, I knew, their intentions was to come back and possibly kill me. I was in for a long night, I had no gun, nowhere of getting one, at least not in such short notice. Sure buff they came back with a trap from my ass, but let me add this before the end of my testimony  "Jesus was @the wheel the whole time" I prayed and prayed for salvation that night, the thrives, murderers came back @5am in the morning, I done lost sleep over them literally, this was their setup, the chick I let stay at my crib ,which by the way she had an evil presence around her, I could sense it, she came up and I was telling her breifly that she has to get out, her friend somebody stole my spare keys and I want them back, she goes in my bathroom, runs the water like if she fixing to take a bath and all of a sudden I hear like a bunch of footstep coming up to my crib I kid you not these b****** came to take over, she was in the bathroom I ran up in there and closed the door and was going off on her long story short, they had me held up in my own bathroom in my own house, this b**** camecout the bathroom instead of her getting them out my house for trespassing, she stated out there with them, begging to come out and fight, taunting me kicking my bathroom door  which they kicked off completely I was barely holding that b**** up, they were passing my own weapons from my house to use to fight til the death finally after all the intimidation, terror etc that seemed like hours I was stuck in my own bathroom, things seem to have winded down, like they were less aggressive almost like relaxed that was my Q I got a mighty courage out of nowhere, like ride or die time, I finally had enough, I threw that bathroom door on whoever and with the same Billy club they passed me that I was playing with earlier by putting black tape on it but never thought I'd have to use, I used the hell out of it that night, I charged the one one who popped the most s*** and as someone told me the next day that as I was so violently swinging my Billy club the ones trying to get me off their friend the Billy club was knocking them down behind me , I had these demons out my house for good they all ran down the stairs the same way they came up, so yeah I almost died that morning but there was a higher power I know. The Holy Spirit is real and so is the devil.

mr1stroke they keep stealing a lot of my posts while blocking my original, the most recent is the Temptations Dennis Edwards death, yet my economic/political etc posts get blocked....if the site would evolve into more of a social media site rather than tap dancing and cooning of news which makes no sense instead of overlooking current events of importance BUT HEY, BLACK PEOPLE LIKE TO KEEP THEIR HEADS BURIED IN THE SAND and hear news about celebrities RATHER THAN FACING REALITY AND NEWS WHICH AFFECTS THEM IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE-----I'LL BET IF I POSTED ABOUT NEW JORDANS, EVERYONE WOULD COMMENT, which is why i cross post my material at https://melanatedpeople.net/members/home which is growing but still has problems of it's own as they too don't live up to its shortcomings/problems

El-Bull is that what's going on, which one did they steal? But you have to forgive them after all I think they are using this site to make a few dollars with who ever is stupid enough to post ad, they are not about growth, they don't have any staff, thats why it is so far behind, I mean look at it you can't even edit a text lol its 2018 it remains the same as the beginning, so what makes you think they will work to get their own story, it requires research, and writing, when the last time this site break down its own story, it's always from what the news report, and the stories are new to those retards who have no TV, or apps for breaking news, but when ever you see that put them on blast, this is why not they hold the story until approve so they release it as their own, thats what you get for dealing with lazy niggers, only an idiots will glory this site in progress, I stay on here to prove my point in my other blogs and this site is my best example of how far behind many niggers are because of refusing to put the proper work they like to get comfortable, they won't even get a million for this site if someone decide to buy, because there is no worth in it, how many active members are on here and how much traffic since this site been in existence?

Harry Toddler white America does that as soon as their kids turn 5 years old, which was many are involve with law enforcement it is to protect the race, but black people always want to pray, forgive and rely on white cops to protect them, instead if teaching their kids self defense, why is there no gun shops, or dealers in the black community, even in many states with right to bare arm the gun shops are not within the community you have to travel out and owned by whites, as i observed these things, when i go to the range i saw those little white kids shooting i had to take my daughter, got her a weapon and tell her it is self defense and she has to learn it, if we dont do it for our kids the every one else will tell us sorry when something happen but wont feel the pain, i mean noggers within the community will never agree once you are doing something that benefits your family, unless you stay and die with them, if you are succeeding and leave that damn dump the first thing they will say dont leave the community you have to stay, but not knowing success dont work well with niggers as soon as they smell they are on guard like a mad dog and when they see it the jealousy and hate in their hearts will come after you, so please teach your kids how to defend their self this is the new world, not the fairy tail that every one are waiting for

Comment by Harry Toddler on February 2, 2018 at 4:07pm

dude is doing the right thing in my opinion , I taught all my kids at an early age to use guns and in my opinion it helped them loose the curiosity they would have otherwise exhibited  . Also if this guy goes to jail it probably will be because he's homeschooling his kids and not teaching them what the man wants them to learn.  Hope he keeps it up seems he has at least 4 generations of black kids who might not become mindless slaves .
