The principal of a high school in California has resigned after he was arrested for allegedly having sex with a former student.

Brian Garret Joseph, 38, was allegedly involved with the student when she was a minor and attending Etiwanda High School in Corona, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies.

The principal quit his position at the Chaffey Joint Union High School District school on Tuesday after being held on $25,000 bail.

He was arrested after Chaffey Joint Union officials contacted sheriff deputies at the Rancho Cucamonga station to report the allegations, according HUFFINGTON POST

‘We got an anonymous tip that was very recent and we acted on it immediately,’ Superintendent Mathew Holton told the news source. ‘This is a very sad day.’

The allegations were investigated and a search warrant served at Joseph’s home. He was later taken into custody on accusations of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

He will be replaced by Tom Mitchell, a former principal at the school.

Joseph is reportedly married and worked for the district for nine years. The former student is now 18 years old.

The arrest comes just one day after another California teacher was arrested for allegedly carrying on a two-year sexual relationship with an underage female student.

Terrance Lee Smith, 32, of Chula Vista, was arrested at a Sweetwater Union High School District office on Monday morning.

The alleged victim’s mother had contacted police last week after learning of the alleged affair which took place between 2006 and 2008, starting when her daughter was 16-years-old, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

I remember like it was yesterday, I was on the track team in 1985, and I remember we were doing sit-up at a training session, these two ugly ass big men (coaches) were conversating, then they call me from my training like I did something wrong, so I went timid as ever, one of the m/efer ask me if I know I can go on cutting table, I know it was something wrong, but I did not know what they meant, I became uncomfortable, and took myself off the track team, no questions asked, no answer given, that statement never left my mind, I found out about 10 years ago, what cutting table meant. Now it makes me wonder how many more that was said to, and how many fell for it. Guess I got away, shold these people go to jail, or prison, yes, kids need to be left alone to be kids, run along, play, be silly, do kids stuff, create memories, not to have their innocents tarnish by the ones that is suppose to protect us growing up, and our kids, and so forth. I am so fearful for our kids, we need to pray for our kids and and each other that they may not fall prey to these animals

We used to hear stories about teachers and students when I was in school in the 70's. what's new is that they are now believing the kids. Teach your kids morals and that that all adults are potential predators. From kindergarten my kid got questioned about the teacher's behavior before I questioned her about what she learned. How long were priests molesting kids before they believed them. Jerrry sandusky. Statutory rape laws are not new. This was ALWAYS a big problem they just kept it hush hush

Leona on November 1, 2012 at 2:15pm: That is definitely a stereotypical "mug shot" because he looks like a straight gang member THUG & not at all like what I'd expect a principal to look like. Regardless though, thug or conservative... these professionals in our school systems are failing our kids & they have some major issues (male and female). Way too many reports of teachers, principals, coaches, etc having inappropriate relationships with students. They need to make the penalties stiffer and enforce them vigorously if professionals cross the line. Grown men and women need to seek out other ADULTS to be with, not prey on youngsters.
