Friday afternoon, around 5PM, 68 year-old Kevin Downing entered the federal office building at 201 Varick St, and opened fire, killing security guard, Idrisa Camara.
Armed with two .38 caliber revolvers, Downing, a realtor from Fort Lee, N.J., then turned the gun onto himself.
“Somebody had just gone through the checkpoint and was gathering his stuff. The guard turns to greet (Downing) and he shoots. There doesn't appear to be any interaction between the two,” said an official.
