Legend: The popular TV psychic, who was born Youree Harris (above in 2009), launched to fame in the late 90s with her commercials for the Psychic Friends Network
Despite the Jamaican accent she adopted while promoting her services in commercials, Harris was born in Los Angeles and an actor before she began her work as a psychic and self-proclaimed shaman.
She worked for about five years with the Psychic Readers Network before they were shut down in 2002 following charges of deceptive advertising from the Federal Trade Commission.
Harris, who is the mother of two daughters, came out as a lesbian in 2006, a few years after losing her job as a psychic spokeswoman.
'I'm as gay as a two dollar bill,' she said at the time in an interview with IndieWire.
She eventually moved to Florida and it was there that she passed away on Tuesday in Palm Beach County.
A rep for Harris said that she was a 'pillar of strength' while battling cancer, and that she passed surrounded by friends and family.
