Deputy Commissioner of Police, Harold Phillip is sending a clear warning to female masqueraders who wear only body paint on their upper bodies that it is an offence and considered public nudity.
At the police weekly media briefing yesterday DCP Phillip said persons must not get carried away for the Carnival season as nudity is against the law.
He also called on masqueraders to desist from wining on police officers. While the DCP admits that it is not illegal to wine on an officer, the situation may escalate if an officer feels threatened, or asks the masquerader to desist and is met with non-compliance.
DCP Phillip asked that masqueraders refrain from lewd behaviour on the road, as it sets a poor example for children looking on.
No decision yet has been made on whether glass bottles will be banned for Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
