Chinese Smartphone (K10000) Supposedly will Last 15 Days on Single Charge

Short battery life has long been considered the smartphone's Achille's heel, something Apple recently tried to remedy with the Smart Battery Case for its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. Oukitel, however, has taken a different approach. The Chinese company's new K10000 phone has a huge 10,000 mAh battery, which it claims can last between 10 and 15 days on a full charge.

The K10000 was announced back in July and is currently available for preorder. It costs $240 (which roughly converts to AU$330 or £160) and will be released next month. It has a 5.5-inch, 1,280x720-pixel display, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera and is powered by a MTK6735 Quad Core processor.

It remains to be seen, however, whether the K10000 can live up to Oukitel's ambitious promise. Samsung's Galaxy Note 5and Huawei's Nexus 6P, two phones of comparable size, come equipped with 3,000mAh and 3,450mAh batteries respectively. Both phones last for roughly one day of standard use.
It's certainly not uncommon for smartphone users to be unsatisfied by the battery life of their devices. This has led to the advent of countless battery-s​aving apps, portable power packs and cases that provide additional battery life -- with Apple's aforementioned Battery Case being the most high-profile example.
The design of the phone is also noteworthy, with it looking more like Acer's brash Predator 6 gaming phone than Apple's much-imitated iPhones. The K10000 is also quite weighty, likely due to the large battery, with a thickness of 1.3 centimetres (0.51 inch), almost double the iPhone 6S Plus' 0.73-centimetre (0.29 inch) measurement.
