Bronx teen dies after falling off roof while running from cops for smoking marijuana

Last Thursday, four officers were reportedly flagged down at the beginning of their shift by a neighbor complaining that a group of teenagers were smoking weed on the grounds. Hakeem Kuta was smoking marijuana with five or six others in the lobby of a Bronx apartment building, when the group spotted the officers approaching.

The young men fled and separated into different groups. Some were able to run up to the rooftop on one side of the complex and jump onto the roof of an adjacent building to get away. Unfortunately, Kuta— who only moved to the US a few years ago from Ghana — and his 14-year-old friend found themselves on the north side of the building’s rooftop, where they encountered a 10-foot wall, the police report explains.

Still fearing an arrest, Kuta climbed over a barrier at the edge of the roof and slipped, despite the officers telling him to “relax”. His 14-year-old friend attempted to grab him but was unable to hold on. While Kuta fell from the roof ledge, an officer was able to grab his companion and pull him up as he started to slip, authorities said.

Police found Kuta in an alleyway and cradled his head and performed chest compressions until paramedics arrived. He had no arrest record and ultimately died Saturday after being in critical condition for nearly two days.

You can't tell a lot of these parents about their children unless your going to fight. They had no recourse but to call the police. Everyone don't live the same. Why should others be subjected to weed smoking and loud music. That's what goes on in my building. Enough is enough. A lot of people think that they can do as they please and not suffer the consequences. I see this s*** everyday, its tiresome. When cops approach young black teens instead of them keeping their mouth shut band listen, they are cursing and acting stupid, who the hell is going to take that bull. If I t wasn't for laws people wouldn't be able to come out of their homes.

Cause he didn't suspect the white teens. Had the teens been black oh yes he would have shot them cause that is what white cops are trained to do. This statement is was made by a black police officer and a black FBI officer.
