'We knew there was something there that was so solid, so powerful - we were willing to have a go': Unseen video reveals Harry and Meghan talking about the moment they knew it was right
Meghan Markle may be the talk of Buckingham Palace now that she’s set to marry Prince Harry, but long before that when she was just 11 years old, Markle was getting her young activism on.
A video from Nickelodeon’s Nick News has resurfaced of a young Markle taking on Procter & Gamble over a sexist Ivory dishwasher soap commercial.
The commercial, which aired in 1993, started with the line, “Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans,” which Markle took exception to for its suggestion that women were the only ones doing the dishes.
So, Markle wrote to Procter & Gamble and told them what she thought, urging them to change the line to “people” rather than “women.”
“I don’t think it’s right for kids to grow up thinking these things that just Mom does everything,” Markle said. “It’s always ‘Mom does this,’ and ‘Mom does that.’”
Procter & Gamble did eventually change the ad, too.
Clearly she was always cut out for the royal spotlight.
BREAKING NEWS: Prince Harry to marry Meghan Markle in the spring after he proposed earlier this month and the Queen gave her blessing for the divorced American actress to join the royal family
Harry and Meghan's off-mic antics were about the Suits' star not letting her royal husband-to-be get a word in edgeways, MailOnline can reveal today.
The couple's engagement excitement truly emerges in candid and funny footage never shown to millions in Britain and around the world last night.
Harry and Meghan are shown laughing, joking and chatting with each other, interviewer Mishal Husain and other people off screen but unfortunately the microphones were switched off.
But expert lipreader Tina Lannin, whose company 121 Captions specialises in forensic lipreading for the police and CPS, has told MailOnline that Harry is ribbing his fiancee for interrupting him.
While he is believed to be describing their safari in Botswana last year Meghan cuts across the prince and says: 'It was 5 days, yeah'.
Showing their relaxed relationship Harry then tells her: 'She wants me to say something' and saying 'Goddammit' while slapping his leg in faux outrage. After apologising Meghan barks jokingly: 'Do it again!'.
Ms Lannin also revealed the happy couple describing the moment they fell in love.
Miss Markle said: 'Six months. We both knew.'
Before Harry added: 'The relationship there, we both knew there was something there that was solid, so solid, so powerful. We were willing to have a go.'
This afternoon the couple are expected to reveal when and where they will get married next year with Windsor Castle now the clear favourite ahead of Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral.

Announcement made a week after his grandmother the Queen celebrated her 70th wedding anniversary
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have today announced they are engaged and will marry early next year, the couple have finally revealed.
They will appear on national TV in the UK this evening to discuss their engagement just 16 months after they got together after being introduced by a mutual friend in Toronto where she was filming Suits.
The couple, who revealed they were an item a year ago after a six-month secret relationship, got engaged earlier this month in London and will marry in spring 2018, Kensington Palace said.
Royal protocol dictated that the Queen had to give her grandson permission to marry the star just a week after she celebrated her own 70th wedding anniversary and in a statement she and Prince Philip said: 'delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness'.
His brother William and sister-in-law Kate said in a joint statement: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said of the engagement: 'We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together'.
Harry also asked Meghan's parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, who divorced when their daughter was six, for her hand in marriage before popping the question a few weeks ago, it emerged today.
They said: 'Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents'.
Harry, 33, and his American fiancee, 36, have not said where they will hold the ceremony but if they choose the UK most senior royals marry at Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral or the chapel at Windsor Castle.
But they are likely to wait until prince William and Kate have their third child, which is due in April.

Bookmakers refused to take any more bets on the couple getting engaged last week as Meghan landed in London and started moving her belongings and two dogs to the UK.
Social media went into meltdown but they have had to wait until today to hear that the fifth-in-line to the throne has proposed to his actress girlfriend.
A Kensington Palace spokesman tweeted today: 'The Prince of Wales has announced the engagement of Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle.

The actress and model did not attend the Queen and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary celebrations together - but she has met Her Majesty for tea.
And royal protocol dictates that Harry will have had to ask his grandmother to let him marry.
The Suits star is set to move to London having quit the show and has already left her apartment in Toronto.
She is shipping her belongings to the UK including her beloved dogs - a beagle named Guy and a labrador-shepherd named Bogart.
Initially at least, the newly-engaged couple are likely to move in together at Kensington Palace, where Prince William, Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be their neighbours.
The announcement marks an extraordinary 12 months since the couple said they were in love after a whirlwind romance where the prince quickly became 'besotted', royal sources said.
The 36-year-old actress, who is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in US legal drama Suits, is believed to have charmed the Royal when he visited Toronto in the summer of 2016.
They managed to keep their relationship secret from the world - but it later emerged she had met William and Kate and he had met her family in California.
Their cover was blown when keen observers spotted pictures of them wearing matching bracelets. The Prince followed the actress on Instagram using a pseudonym.
She also went to Wimbledon and Buckingham Palace this year coinciding with a period when Harry was in London but were never seen together.
As news of their love affair broke on Halloween last year, Harry was forced to abandon a secret trip to visit his actress girlfriend in Canada.
Meghan then flew to London two weeks later during a gap in her filming schedule and was photographed by MailOnline buying food on Kensington High Street, Princess Diana's favourite shopping street.
Days later, in an extraordinary statement on his love life, Harry said he is 'worried about Miss Markle's safety' since rumours of their relationship first surfaced nine days ago.

Harry was said to have offered to pay for a bodyguard for his girlfriend, which he had never offered to do for ex-girlfriends in the past.
But his brother Prince William was said to be deeply unhappy over his younger brother's decision to issue an unprecedented public statement, which was branded hot-headed by royal sources.
Weeks later Harry was accused of breaching royal protocol by making a 1,700-mile detour to visit his girlfriend after an official tour.
The prince was expected to fly home from the Caribbean, but he changed plans and instead boarded a flight to Toronto to see her.
