Blind autistic singer, 22, leaves America's Got Talent judges and audience in tears with his spine-tingling singing and piano performance {VIDEO}

  • Kodi Lee made his debut on the talent show on Tuesday night, accompanied by his mother, Tina Lee
  • The California mom explained to the judges and the audience that her son is blind and autistic, while her son told them that he was going to 'sing a song for you on the piano' 
  • 'We found out that he loved music early on,' Tina explained, revealing that he began singing from a young age
  • 'It has actually saved his life, playing music,' she said 
  • Kodi sang an incredible rendition of A Song For You by Leon Russell, while playing the piano  
  • His incredible performance earned a standing ovation, and left judges Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union in tears, while several audience members were also seen wiping their eyes 
  • New mom Gabrielle gave Kodi the golden buzzer, meaning he will progress straight through to the live finals 
  • Oprah Winfrey praised Kodi on Twitter, saying that she 'stood up and cheered in my living room' for him
  • According to Kodi's website, the singer is one of just 25 musical prodigious savants in the world, meaning that he has extraordinary musical abilities that are possessed by just a handful of people
  • Prodigious savants are people living with severe mental disabilities who possess extraordinary abilities and talents in a specific field, like math, science, or music

Kodi Lee, 22, from California, appeared on the show on Tuesday night, accompanied by his mother, Tina, who explained that her son developed a love of music, and an incredible singing talent, 'very early on' in his life, sharing that she knew he was 'an entertainer' from a young age. 

'We found out that he loved music really early on,' she said. 'He listened and his eyes just went huge. And he started singing, and that's when I was in tears, because I realized he is an entertainer.

'Through music and performing, he was able to withstand living in this world, because when you're autistic, it's really hard to do what everybody else does.

Leon Russell's version of "A Song For You" may be the original, but she did her baby a disservice by not introducing him to Donny Hathaway's version FIRST! Lmfao Ray Charles does sing it, but the Hathaway cover is TEN TIMES better!!
