Black Panther movie grabs Jimmy Cliff's daughter Nabiyah Be for role

Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther" released on Thursday and among the cast is actress/ singer Nabiyah Be, who plays the role of Tilda Johnson, aka. Nightshade.Nabiyah Be is a Brazilian-Jamaican actress and singer/songwriter. She's the daughter of Grammy Award winner Jimmy Cliff.

Odessa, the actress' sister confirmed her character's identity on Twitter, from the middle of last year and again in an interview last week with a local paper. pointing out her brief appearance in a shot alongside Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger in the "Black Panther" teaser trailer.

In the comics, Nightshade is a genius supervillain who first debuted back in the Steve Englehart and Alan Weiss' Captain America #164 back in 1973 and has faced-off against the likes of Captain America, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Black Panther over the years.

Nabiyah Be originated the role of Eurydice in Anaïs Mitchell's highly acclaimed Hadestown and performs in the Hadestown Original Cast Album scheduled for 2017 release.

Coogler is directing Marvel's Black Panther from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.

The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Isaach de Bankolé, and John Kani.

Black Panther follows T'Challa, who, after the events of Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T'Challa's mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.
