Asafa Powell and Wife, Alyshia Miller-Powell, Journey to Ghana – Watch Videos and See Photos

Jamaican Olympian Asafa Powell and his wife, Alyshia Miller-Powell, have received a massive welcome from the Ghanaian people following the former sprinter’s invitation from the country’s Olympic Committee.

According to reports, the couple who are travelling with their children, Amieke and Azhaf Powell, arrived in the African nation on Monday. The Commonwealth Games champion recently celebrated his fourth anniversary with his wife, who was born in Ghana and raised in Canada.

Reports state that Powell will remain in the country until March 9, during which time he will be engaging in several events and paying a courtesy call on the President of the Republic at the Jubilee House. Powell will also be speaking with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), the LOC of the African Games Accra 2023, and the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA).

The Olympic gold medalist will host a number of sports clinics during his stay and visit multiple senior and junior high schools, as well as the sports facilities under construction for the next All African Games, which will be hosted in Ghana’s capital city, Accra. It is the Ghana Olympic Committee’s belief that Powell’s visit will help to strengthen Ghana-Jamaica relations.

Following their arrival, the Powells have shared photographs and videos from their trip, with Asafa expressing that he had finally reached the motherland and that the African country felt like home.

In footage from their welcoming ceremony, a thrilled Asafa and Alyshia can be seen amid a throng of exuberant welcomers and eager members of the press.
