NY Daily News: One of Hollywood's most beautiful couples has called it quits.
Halle Berry and her model boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, have pulled the plug on their five-year relationship, RadarOnline.com reports.
The couple, who are parents to 2-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela Aubry, have reportedly spent months working with a lawyer to iron out the details of a custody and division of property agreement. Berry is said to have employed the services of Judy Bogen, a family attorney from a top Beverly Hills law firm
"Halle was terrified that Gabriel would go after her money," a source said. "But he's a decent and proud guy and that's just not his style."
Aubry was reportedly the one who ended the relationship, citing that the couple's age difference was a factor in the split. He is 34, while Berry is 43.
"Gabriel just felt it wasn't working anymore," a source said. "When they were first together, the nine-year age difference between them didn't phase him. But as time went on, he started feeling it more and more."
According to Radar, Aubry began to notice women other than Berry, who was voted Esquire's sexiest woman alive in 2008.
"Gabriel is a really nice, decent guy and he would never cheat on her" the insider said. "But I suspect that he had become attracted to someone and that he felt he needed to break it off with Halle before anything developed any further."
The source added, "As much as it can be, it's been an amicable split. They both traveled a lot for work anyway, so they were used to spending time apart for long periods, but I think Halle has taken it pretty badly, she truly loved Gabriel and thought she had found the one."
In the purported separation agreement, Aubry wanted joint physical custody of the couple's daughter, which Berry reportedly agreed to.
He also asked for ownership of the house they own in Canada, according to Radar. Berry reportedly put the full deposit down on the property, however Aubry has been making the payments ever since.
"Financially, Gabriel isn't in the league of Halle, but he still earns a decent amount from his modeling career, in the region of $700,000 per year, so he's comfortable and he didn't want a dime from Halle," the source said.
Berry hasn't been shy when it comes to her feelings about marrying again. The actress has publicly declared that she has no intention of ever walking down the aisle, no thanks to her two failed marriages.
In 1996, Berry ended her three-year marriage to former baseball player David Justice, a decision that left her so depressed, she said she attempted suicide. Berry went on to wed R&B singer Eric Benet in 2001, only to split two years later when he confessed to having an affair.
