A New York Police Department helicopter made an emergency landing in the water off Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn while providing security for President Obama

New York -- A New York Police Department helicopter made an emergency landing in the water off Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon, according to NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne
Five people were aboard the aircraft and got out safely; one was being treated for minor injuries, according to Browne.Browne told CNN that the incident happened as the helicopter was close to its base, located at Jamaica Bay.

A pilot, co-pilot, crew chief and two scuba divers were aboard the helicopter when it went down but Browne did not know which one of those individuals was injured.

Asked about whether the NYPD helicopter was involved in the security detail for President Barack Obama, who is in New York to speak at the United Nations, Browne said, "We do not discuss the details of our security procedures."

Browne also said the helicopter is equipped with inflatable pontoons but it's unclear whether they deployed during this incident. He added that it's also unclear whether they were taking off or landing when the accident occurred.

Browne did not know what caused the helicopter to go down.

This is NYCity's finest @ it's best 1ce again, I'm just happy that no 1 got seriously hurt & that it wasnt another police officer killing 1 of us & getting away with it again & again. People make mistakes & that sounds like thats what happened only the boys in blue know what really happen & tha means we will never find out the truth because of the vow they take ...

You see, just when you thought it was safe...I hope the media doesn't run with this story and turn it into something big. Then again, something to make you say, "Hmmmm."
