Reports state that the incident happened on Tuesday. Officers found the bodies of the deceased, two women and one man, at approximately 7:15 a.m. this morning after the landlord turned himself in to the police.
One of the female victims, reportedly 51 years old, was found face down in her bed on the second floor, while the other female and the male victim were discovered in the bedroom of a basement apartment. The three victims are believed to have been stabbed to death.
The murder weapon used was not found by officers during their initial search of the home. During a press conference, NYPD (New York Police Department) Assistant Chief Kevin Williams disclosed that the landlord, a 54-year-old male, turned himself over to the police and appeared calm as he told an officer that he was “having issues” with the tenants and “did something bad.”
It is currently believed that the man killed the three tenants because of an ongoing dispute between the four due to unpaid rent. Charges for the landlord are pending as he remains in police custody at the precinct where he turned himself in, and the police continue their investigation.
