2 Women Arrested For Kissing At Brazilian Evangelical Event {VIDEO}

Two women were reportedly arrested, jailed and publicly shamed after kissing at an evangelical event in Brazil earlier this month.

Brazilian congressman and pastor Marco Feliciano halted his presentation after Joana Palhares and Yunka Mihura began kissing, asking municipal guards and military police officials to arrest the pair, according to translated reports on PRI and Opposing Views.

"Those two girls have to leave here handcuffed," Feliciano is quoted by Global Voices Online as saying before the crowd of 70,000. "No use trying to run, guards are headed there now. This here isn't palace where anything goes -- it’s the house of God.”

Palhares and Mihura also claim that they were physically assaulted by police following their arrest and incarceration at the First District Police Station of São Sebastião. The women also allege that many heterosexual couples around them were exchanging kisses at the event.

"We see it as a situation that got completely out of control," stated Daniel Galani, the lawyer for the two women. "We know there are two rights in conflict: one is the freedom of expression and the other the freedom of religious practice. The two rights are constitutional and are prescribed so that people can make use of them."

Check out the video above -- the kiss happens right after the 4:20 mark.

That was not the place to make a statement and I won't support that kind of behavior inside a church or religious gathering. Heterosexuals don't get on with that type of behavior so why should they?

There are many dark skinned people in the crowd in fact I have been to and enjoyed Brazil and not speaking form any racist point of view and was very much accepted and for the most part respected. My hobby or one that I used to indulge in racing is very big there. This is not about a racist thing it is about two f@@@king idiots that chose to make the choice to stand out in the crowd and disrespect and entire event. What could they have possibly expected??

This was disrespectful and the most stupidest way for them to prove the sexual preference.  If you are gay and hate other bashing you for being gay, I understand you (just do not agree.)  But to this act in a religious event, church or in the Lord's house, you are out of line and out of order.  Forget others judging you, His rage because of your disrespect will be far worse than mere opinions about your gayness.

Disrespectful. .. Homos always protest that they don't get their respect but if you act so selfishly how can you earn respect. Instead of worrying about humans they should worry about the judgement of jehovah that awaits them if they don't repent.

You know something keepingitreal !!! I luv ya for your stance and your vigor on homosexuality but to be blind in the fact that they are hurting there own cause by doing this is crazy!!!Do you think them kissing at a religious function is helping there cause in anyway!!! It was stupid !!!!! They caused there own demise and also showed a mass of people they are disrespectful !!!!! Every Culture had they way of doing things if I go to japan if they say you have to remove your shoes take them off !!!! This was stupid on there behalf and they did nothing but prove the congregation and the church they are right!!!!

Couldn't give a damn. Not a black face in that racist crowd any damn way. Brazil is one of THE most racist countries next to mid and southern India and the US...
