*There’s more Ja Morant drama going down after the troubled NBA superstar posted cryptic messages on social media that got some folks thinking he might’ve trying to write a suicide note.
We can understand the concern because he said goodbye to his father, mother, and young daughter. Being worried about his mental status, police were dispatched to his home to check up on him.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ Sports that officers did a welfare check on Morant and, thankfully, they discovered he is not in any danger.
The Sheriff’s Office said he told them “that he is taking a break from social media.”
“He is fine,” the spokesperson added.
In Morant’s posts, he shared pictures of him with his mom, dad, and daughter … before writing a caption that said nothing more than “bye.” The posts were deleted a short time later.
Of course, given the turmoil that’s surrounded him since he was seen brandishing a gun on video for the second time in less than three months … his fans expressed big worry for the 23-year-old basketball player.
Fortunately, though, it seems everything is OK.
As we reported earlier, Morant did comment on the latest gun controversy. He released a statement saying, “I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do.
“My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”
The Grizzlies have currently suspended Morant and the NBA is investigating him for displaying a gun on camera. TMorant had previously promised to be more responsible with his firearms and social media presence. Is the newfound fame and fortune of being a young NBA superstar worth millions too big of a challenge for Morant to handle?
