Ziggy Marley Hits Out Against the Privatization of Jamaica Lands and Beaches to Foreign Interests – Watch Interview

Son of legendary reggae musician Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley is making his voice heard not musically but against what he classifies as discrimination against Jamaicans as it relates to ownership or acquiring prime lands and beach properties on the Island.

Ziggy Marley, who has had an illustrious career in the music industry thus far, joined Ka’Bu Ma’at Kheru, the host of the longstanding Afro-centric morning programme on Irie FM titled Running African, to voice his burning concerns.

The eight-time Grammy Award winner shared the disappointing experience he went through in Jamaica regarding securing a villa. The Fly Rasta singer shared a clip from his interview via Instagram he did last Sunday on the Running African forum with a long and heartfelt caption.

The singer expressed his uncontained frustration by stating in the interview, ”listen Bob go through it, a mean this come like same thing weh me go through, like nutting nuh really change, like the same thing weh Rasta did face discrimination, but now ano Rasta a Jamaican, yuh know wah me a seh so it really strange to me, seh inna this, weh we deh ago 2024 or whatever, seh dem kind a thing yah we a deal wid.”

Ziggy Marley seemed shocked and dumbfounded at how difficult it was to gain access to prominent villas in Jamaica being a Jamaican citizen. The reggae superstar said he was denied access to a villa just because he was a Jamaican, according to the experience shared by the singer. “Discrimination against Jamaica me caa get a place because, the only reason me caa get it is because I am Jamaican, wah that,” Ziggy explained to Ka’bu.

There is currently a constant battle developing on the shorelines of Jamaica between ordinary citizens and the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) as it relates to the increased privatization of beaches and shorelines across Jamaica leaving Jamaicans to pay fees to access once public beaches.

All Caribbean leaders are sellouts when it comes to Caucasian interests. They always reserved the best lands for foreigners like only they can own beachfront real estate.
