29th Anniversary Hosting Of Rebel Salute Cancelled

For 28 years, the event Rebel Salute has made an impressive stamp on Jamaican culture, featuring some of the music industry’s most iconic names, however, this year is going to be different as the show has been put off until next year.

According to Reggae veteran Tony Rebel who is the organizer for the event, the event had to be put off due to the pandemic taking a toll on everything which he said caused his family to decide to not host the event regardless of the option to keep it virtually as they did in the previous year.

This time, according to Rebel, will be used to observe the happenings to hopefully have the show return on its 30th anniversary. The entertainer along with his daughter who is also his legal adviser Jayudah Barrett spoke to the fact that keeping the event amid the new Omicron variant of the Coronavirus would be an irresponsible and reckless move.

Initially, the show Rebel Salute started its operation in the parish of Manchester at the Fayor’s Entertainment Centre, then got moved in the town to Brook’s Park being moved again to Port Kaiser in St. Elizabeth, and then in 2013 Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in Priory St Ann.

I remember back in the 80's you had real Reggae music that had a message to lift the consciousness of Black culture, then it was gradually destroyed as they used Bob Marley to turn it into a love fest, as the rebels never were put into the for front to keep the warrior spirit intact, now you have Lions who eat grass in Black society, a dumbed down race of AmeriKKKanized mutts that have no culture to be proud of, going back to the good old slave plantation days.
