Virginia Pastor Who Vowed to Continue Holding Church Service Dies of Coronavirus [VIDEO]

An evangelical pastor in Virginia has died from the coronavirus weeks after he proudly showed off his packed church and vowed to continue delivering sermons “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
Bishop Gerald O. Glenn delivered his last in-person service on March 22, during which he told his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church that “God is larger than this dreaded virus.”

“You can quote me on that,” he added, saying that “people are healed” in his church.
He also bragged about being “controversial” for violating the safety guidelines by having  “way more than 10 people” at the church.
“I am essential,” he said of keeping the doors to his church open. “I’m a preacher — I talk to God,” he said.

On Sunday his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy heart” that Glenn had died a week after receiving a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.
One Twitter user reacted to the news by writing, “Heartbreaking? He did it to himself and put thousands of lives in jeopardy.”
Another added, “Yeah, my heart breaks for the nurse who rides the bus to care for people w/#Coronavirus while her kids stay home hoping she doesn’t come home sick or die at work. But this is not that. This is hubris. Hubris is not heartbreaking.”
A third wrote, “A lot of hate for a person who believed what he preached. He knew the risks. He was particularly vulnerable, but he felt his work for God was more important than his earthly existence. You don’t have to agree or approve. It was his choice, his life. The vitriol is just ghoulish.”  To which this user replied, “He was wrong. And it cost him his life. You’re right, it was his choice, he chose poorly.”
Glen’s wife, Marcietia, is also sick with the virus.
Their daughter, Mar-Gerie Crawley, told WTVR that because her father had a condition that often triggered fevers and infections, he initially dismissed his symptoms.
“It becomes very real to you,” she told WTVR.
“I just beg people to understand the severity and the seriousness of this, because people are saying it’s not just about us, it’s about everyone around us,” Crawley added.
In related news, a new poll conducted by Pew Research says 30 percent of Americans believe the COVID-19 was created in a lab, Complex reports.

The all Spiritual creator of life knows who will die from this pandemic. Not sure would he be alive today if he had not kept his church doors open, this is a vicious virus designed to kill especially blacks and people of color. This is why we must adhere to governmental advice to stay home and at distant to slow the spread of this virus as much as we possibly can. This is very serious, we do not know how long this virus will remain or mutate to virus that will be hard to destroy or control. These are very tough horrible times that will change this world and our normal lives forever.

@Sheldine, right. This pastor clearly didn’t use wisdom and ignore where the Bible states it rains on the just and the unjust. I noticed you quoted the every so misquoted scripture. It’s not money is the root of evil. It’s the “LOVE” of money.

God said be wise not foolish. now look he is dead. Money is the root of all evil.

When has Jesus/God/Christianity ever served Black people, except to do us wrong and enslave us?
